With the Tpries a mixed lot from not too far left to way off right who of the remaining two candidates is the more likely to let the Tories lose the next election?

It may not be a matter of which of the candidates is the most bumbling, incompetent, totally out of touch that matters. After all, look at how Boris won, despite throughout his whole career being bumbling, incompetent, and totally out of touch. His impact as Mayor of London was a disaster and made it absolutely clear he was totally unfit for a role in politics. The Tory party will vote for any nincompoop whatsoever, even if he/she had barely a functioning cell in his/her addled brain, if he/she's got the right background. (Going to Eton, have a massive feeling of self-entitlement, and/or being a multimillionaire helps a lot.)
In my opinion, the key factor in whether the Tories win/lose the next election is not their candidate, but whether Starmer gets fire in his belly and starts to fight for the workers of the country. At the moment, he hasn't.
Footnote: I originally wrote "deserving workers" which shows how far the Tory invective has poisoned minds. The Tories have created a narrative that the working class are a bunch of lazy, feckless, worthless individuals, a bunch of scroungers, who deserve their dire status in society, totally ignoring Thatcher's concerted attempts to destroy British industries such as coal and steel (industries that once gave decent paying jobs to the working class) and to undermine the unions that fought for the rights of working people.

Being from the Netherlands I'm mostly surprised that the Tory party, or at least it's voters, are so diverse. In the Netherlands such group would be split over five or more parties making parties (slightly) more homogeneous. Of course, you also have a lot more talking before there are agreements but maybe talking between parties is a bit more 'open' and democratic than internal party hanky-panky.

An independence vote for Scotland to leave the union would trigger a General Election in Scotland. Its by no means certain the SNP would win in a completely new political arena.

Pity (to some) there won't be an indy vote.
But Boris and Trump have proved that no matter how bumbling an incompetent you are, how many lies you tell, things just go on without you, around you and above you. Talk as much sh ite as you like, no-one really cares or bothers. Interested in who gets the job.? Not me.

No point turning this into a Punch and Judy show.
Anyway I should care, I've just got a "very popular" badge on another forum.

I'll start a petition to get you banned from the BM for at least a few minutes. Maybe taking your cocoa (or ovaltine) away for a day might be a tougher punishment.

Stopping the cocoa would be cruel indeed. OK I'll come clean and confess, I haven't got a clue who the duck or the BM are. The ignominy. Now I am making a late start for my daily town inspection and there have been comments of p4p ladies in a certain quarter. I must away. Well who is the duck anyway.?

Willing to pay big money for a front row seat when that charlatan gets her smug smirk wiped form her dial. What are we going for next ronnie, best of 5 best of seven, ffs they will still be at it in years to come, best of 1314, best of 1745.
