I am suss about cheap charlie airlines. If I flew with them I would be shitting bricks, would rather pay more and fly happy and contented with Thai or Singapore Airlines.

Good price Hip, as long as you don't mind an overnight in Manila. I guess a few hundred dollars for a good hotel near the airport makes the total price reasonable.

I actually don't mind breaking it up. From my front door in Aust to front door in Thailand is over 24 hours if we go as direct as possible, so a break is always on the cards.

Years ago Royal Brunei had some good deals on flights from Brisbane-BKK return, overnight in Brunei. Had never been there before and thought I would give it a try. Stayed in a classy hotel not far from the airport, they paid for hotel but I had to buy dinner. Had a good Chinese restaurant in the hotel. Also, even though they are not supposed to exist in Brunei, there was a full-blown bar on the fifth floor, to relax with a beer @ AUD $5 a stubby. The flights were good, as was the service, food etc. Good airline to me.

Usually we are 6.5 hrs to Singapore, then 1.5ish to Bkk. Its a walk in the park even with a kid and even in economy seating. Then when we head out to the village of the damned , as I call it , we break it up with a night or 2 in the city.

The Melbourne to Brunei leg is on the new 787 dreamliner. As an avid hater of flying, these planes make the trip more bearable. They still have the complimentary overnight hotel option, but on some days the stopover between flights is only an hour. Brand new terminal, but really only caters to Business travellers and not tourists. A beautiful new Business lounge too, but like the flights, not a drop of alcohol to be had.

Nothing wrong with royal Brunei, I worked in Brunei. No direct flights to HK only via KL/Singapore to HK. One flight was delayed for six hours due to fog. No drinkies either as night was falling on the tarmac and we were all wtf is going on? Lovely chap next to me decided to break into his duty free. Have you seen the before flight blurb on Royal Brunei, .

Have yo seen the before flight blurb on Royal Brunei, . There are now direct flights from BWN-HKG spenny. Are you referring to the pre-flight prayers? I have been advised by cabin crew previously that from time to time, Economy passengers will open their duty free, and staff turn a blind eye. Have never seen it in Business, but there is always a first time for everything 😃😃😃😃😃
