![](https://s29.postimg.org/xmejngco7/Unknown_Veg_M.jpg) I was about to cook up this unknown veg from Big C, but now am worried it could possibly be in the onion family, in which case my dogs shouldn't eat it. What is it? It's fragrant.

Not sure but it looks like it was snatched out of someones aquarium.
Are the dogs vegetarians?

No, dogs can't really be vegetarians, but they eat vegetables every night with their other food to prevent cancer and for overall health and vitality. I think I figured it out. I think it's probably "water morning glory". ผักบุ้งI googled "Thai vegetables" in images and sifted through the pictures.
You're right, CHL- apparently it is an aquatic plant:

Mmm, it's good. I threw it in with my other stir fry veggies. Very nice- sort of citrusy, sort of licoricey.

My Dad told me that vegetables give dogs a nice shiny coat. Our dogs ate whatever leftovers we had for them plus doggy biscuits and bones. That "thing" looks like the stuff growing in our mosquito breeding nurseries, the many big clay pots around our yard full of water, weeds, and small fish. ![(rofl)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/rofl.png)

To me it looks exactly like pandan leaves, in Thai ใบเตย (bay təəy), most commonly used here to wrap chunks of marinated chicken which are then deep fried, and as a flavouring for custard cakes. Pandan has a citrus-y, slightly sweet and nutty taste.

ผักชีฝรั่ง pak chi farang. Now see? That's actually what the little plastic tie said at Big C.
But they're full of it. I have heard ผักชีฝรั่ง used to apply to:
parsley cilantro and now this
These are three freaking different plants.
Lazy, imagination-deficient Thai people are just calling anything they don't have a name for ผักชีฝรั่ง.The translation for ผักชีฝรั่ง is "green thing I don't know the name of".
Somebody's alternative botany facts.

Somebody's alternative botany facts. ผักชีฝรั่ง isn't used for cilantro - (or, in English, coriander). That's simply ผักชี. And yes, ผักชีฝรั่ง is used both for parsley and culantro. I am a little surprised that this is culantro since culantro normally has serrated leaf margins, but if that's what the label says, then sobeit.

Yeah, this is not culantro. Look at culantro in google: images of culantroMy plant is not serrated AND mine has a distinct, longish STEM below the leaves. Culantro does not. Culantro basically has leaves that extend down to the soil level without any separate elongated stem.

Somebody's alternative botany facts. Orrrr, stop compraining, you big whiny bitch ! Just accept the fact that some devious BigC employee pulled a weed out of the side of a drain and stuck it in the Produce section to see how long it would take for some crazy farang to buy it. And you walked in the door ! That guy is probably still telling his mates about it now ! ( *** Note to self - If you go to mm's place for dinner, whatever you do, don't mention the forking greens ) *p**stake warning !
