Good point blether, made me think that most of the people calling for countries to be bombed etc have never seen or been to war. Quite happy to have someone else do it on their behalf though. They interviewed an old digger years ago at an Anzac Day parade, one of the last remaining WW1 soldiers. He said something like anyone who had ever been through the horrors of war would never want for another to happen. My old man said the same thing. My father could never talk about the second world war. He gave me some photographs he took of what appeared to be a spectacular firework display. His father, my grandfather of course , was a stretcher bearer, front line first aid, in the first world war. I only knew this from my father,;grandad never spoke of it. How could he to a child who admired (loved) him. The pain of two generations which i never suffered.

Both true - amazing how anyone that takes the time out to hold a one minute silence would then call for retributive violence.
Against who?
Innocent teenage girls in Raqqa?
This is intellectual diarrhea
So that's the point of the thread - don't disgrace the one minutes silence by then calling for violence.

Self defence sure, but even more so defend those who are in danger. Been down this path before. How the few times i have turned and threatened were when those who were being threatened needed me to step in. A natural instinct for me. On a lighter note, yesterday a friend was provoking me. I pretended to turn nasty. He was dumbfounded and his family were poised to intervene. Then he saw my smile and got the joke.
