A ramble.
Our air conditioner, in (my) our room broke down last night.
Yes Mitsubishi. mr slim and very old.
Wife called our maintenance guy.
He being probably the best, said he was very busy, but always enjoyed coming to our house.
Arrived at two o'clock.
"Sort that one out and clean the other one while you are here,".
They did.
Wife provided refreshments and we all chatted.
All sorted.
I knew the actual cost and he knew i knew.
That is why he got an over the top payment.
Not much, just enough to make his journey worthwhile.

Oh no buhi...you paid the farang tax. Is your wife still talking to you? No i did not pay the farang tax. I asked my wife to pay. She told me the figure, but i had already worked it out, time spent, standard fee etc. Paid a little more out of satisfaction. Is that not how the world should work? OK Smokie you tell me the correct price for calling out my respected air conditioner engineer, to repair and clean one unit and clean the other. Three people, , two hours, plus parts? You can estimate. |

You can clean the filters in the unit regularly yourself, and depending how dusty the area you live in is you should really do so. Don't know when last done at your place, but just have a look. Don't know when last done at your place, but just have a look. You might be surprised. We do. Now i want a quote. The Mitsu in question is fourteen years old. Friend has repaired it before. Other idiot said buy a new one. Friend said no need, just replace with new parts. Replace, probably 30,000 plus baht. I want a quote. |

Actually at the moment life is bearable with a simple fan. Probably because of the rain it isn't really hot at the moment.

Just about correct, 1,300 baht , but i gave 200 baht extra. Tip. That was for two air cons, the other is only three years old. Still takes time to take it to pieces and really clean it, not dusting. It's the outside unit that takes the battering, sun heat and rain. |
