Tourism minister is not worried with Thailand being named one of the most dangerous countries Tourism and Sports Minister Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul is optimistic that foreign tourists have trust and confidence in safety while travelling in Thailand despite the World Economic Forum’s report placing Thailand among the world’ 20 most dangerous countries for tourists. WEF’s Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report for 2017 which was recently released ranks Thailand in the 19th place among a list of 20 most dangerous countries for tourists. For Thailand, the report took into account the situation in three restive provinces of Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat in its assessment of Thailand. Ms Kobkarn said she was not worried with the WEF’s report but, however, added that authorities concerned would remain vigilant and coordinate with security officials and monitor the situation on regular basis. englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/tourism-minister-not-worried-thailand-named-one-dangerous-countries/

Thailand, Living the Life Thailand, for those who dare Thailand, for Tourists who want to go to Paradise My favourite quote in this piece.... For Thailand, the report took into account the situation in three restive provinces of Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat in its assessment of Thailand. And why wouldnt they include these provinces in its assessment of Thailand ? unless there is a belief that these provinces are not part of Thailand, which is the crux of all the issues in these provinces to start with ..

And why should she be worried ? As long as the tourist arrivals are at a certain level her position is safe.
Most of Thailand's visitors are in that age bracket that are not concerned with the dangers a country holds, only interested in the the attractions and how much they cost. And the cost of a beer, a bed, and a feed. Most of them are actually attracted by the thought of a bit of risk and danger.
Good point regarding the three restive southern provinces of Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat. Ironic, what ?

Again you pigeon hole and think of tourism as restricted to Westerners. The rating is correct.

site crashed. There is a tragedy in London, it is media headline news. My wife asked me if i knew; of course i did. But i am sure there are similar or worse tragedies right now which are not headline news on western media. A bus crashes in the west, people die and news. Buses crash everywhere, yes Thailand included and people die, non event. So a death of a westerner is newsworthy in the mainstream western media, but some other lesser being is of no importance.

Thailand has nothing to fear, as long as there as Quasimodo farangs willing to come here looking to rescue some fair thai maiden and invest in upcountry paddy fields, invest in vets fees for sick buffalo and keep khun por in lao kao and khun mae in hi lo money.
The future is so bright I gotta wear shades.
Isaan is booming, the condos are flying off the walls in Pattaya before they have even been built.
Welcome to BoomTown.
