As the negotiations begin Europe might be wise to remember those days.
Not in essence of hatred but taking into consideration the British position and its reasons for leaving the EU.
The best comment you will hear is that we have no intention of leaving Europe.
Europe is under threat from much of this unchallenged immigration and it is not the European governments we have issue with nor any of their citizens.

A dig a trump and many who are like him. Of posts that vent feelings but produce no results. Of facing facts and denying them. Of writing to old friends and of them replying. Of a photograph by my artist friend, who shared my life and I his long ago. Yes one of the three is my ex wife ,aside from my best friend and myself ; long ago, but a day we all remember. The photographer was/is the artist and he lived with us, we shared an house with two others, long forgotten. Best friend was visiting, we go back to childhood. Artist too, one of the very close childhood friends. Ex, well out of that intuitive closeness, of shared memories and just knowing each other. Evident in that recent exchange between the three of us and how despite time, the knowing is still there. Artist friend recently visited my ex , opened a closed door. Need to express all that in a redraft. Chalk or oil?  Note ex wife is away from us and we are close together. That is why it is a significant work of art.Or a very acute observation of a moment in time that would be just that, a second and all it portends. |
