Injuries after ‘ping pong bomb’ explodes in central Bangkok, knives found nearby TWO PEOPLE have been injured after a so-called “ping pong bomb” exploded in central Bangkok this morning, with a bag of knives found nearby. The explosion left two street cleaners injured after one of them picked up a bag containing the small bomb. Namwan Sukit, 43, and Siriwan Sripeng, 51 were sweeping the footpath and trimming bushes outside Bangkok’s UNESCO office at the time of the explosion. One of the cleaners found the device hidden in a bush in the Thonglor area of Thailand, in the heart of the city. They were injured when the bomb exploded as the pair opened the bag. www.express.co.uk/news/world/817802/bangkok-bomb-explosion-ping-pong-bomb-attack-Thonglor-thailand

Sorry for sounding so uncaring for the victims but 'ping pong' & 'Bangkok' are usually only heard together as either a joke or when someone is telling their mates about their first trip to Thailand.

They strike me as being odd things, ping pong bombs, not quite a real bomb and almost symbolic rather than serious munitions, is this perhaps the way not so subtle messages are delivered here?
