I saw a big one behind the house many years ago, 4 cats wrestling me to go investigate. On TVF you'd have a smart got say they aren't cobras.

One thing has always amazed me about these Thai style kitchens in the boonies, toss their crap outside, attracts rats, the snakes come for the rats. Was down Rayong way a few years ago, there was one of those effers crawling up the wall, the locals were trying to work out what lottery numbers to buy, me I was offski.

Thanks for the memories, I have actually been here and witnessed it.
Annual rattlesnake roundup.
Not quite my cuppa tea, but give the Yanks their due they make some great beer food, those hot dogs were effin brilliant.
Best bit of that trip, buying Levis jeans in WalMart for about $20 a pair, in rip off Uk they were about 40 quid, I bought 15 pairs.

There is a Westerner working in India, and he's a KC expert. He's had so many bites he's now allergic to the anti venom. He carries on fully aware the next bite could kill him. Now some think partly due to the range, there is more than 1 species of these large snakes.

Was down Rayong way a few years ago, there was one of those effers crawling up the wall, the locals were trying to work out what lottery numbers to buy, me I was offski. The lottery is very important rg ! I was sitting in airport in BKK years ago, waiting to catch a flight to China, wife #1 in CR rings me in a giant panic/meltdown. Says there is a big black cobra งูจงอาง about 8 effin' foot long in the backyard and she is hiding in the kitchen, looking at it through the window. Family dog is going mental and has it bailed up in the corner of the garden, snake is getting p**sed off as well. I say - "What do you want me to do about it ? You should have rang Mr Thoong across the street, he is good with snakes and a lot closer to the action than I am". Snake ended up spraying venom in the dog's eyes, dog doing laps of the house now, yelping. Wife calls vet, just as a huge storm hits, like a mini cyclone. Vet says I will be straight over as soon as storm passes. Turned up, gives dog a needle - She'll be right. Cobra gone, somehow escaped that madhouse. Glad I was not there, then ended up in an even bigger madhouse, China.

I'd love to see one in the wild. From a safe distance of course. weegee had a few encounters with cobras at his home, including one famous occasion when the cobra chased him, his wife, and dogs right at his patio. I think he outran the dogs that day, as I would too

I used to catch Cobras and pythons (both Burmese & Reticulating) in the water catchment in the hills of Lantau Island (catch and release further up the hills). However, never came across a full grown KC but if I did I would go nowhere near it. Used to have a baby KC when I first started living in Thailand, I had 4 snakes and a pet scorpion at the time but my missus would not allow me to keep a snake now.

I would say I was 13 or 14 feet away. Luckily I was 12 above it. Too close if it was on a level basis. I'd say it was full grown. Worst close encounter was to realise my hand had been a couple of feet from a deadly monocled cobra. I heard it hiss as it was moving away. I think it had a funny smell associated with it. Me shitting my pants. That one was killed, it set up home under the house. Wife's young nieces were regular visitors at the time.

Tonight a cobra in my wife's pool. 2 meters yellow throat. Didn't see the hood. Emptied the pool and let it go. Hope it's gone
