Condolences, would have been a terrible way to die.
Without even bothering to look over there, I bet Tony's balls there is at least one twit on TVF "suggesting" there is foul play involved, as in the deceased man's Thai wife being involved.

If convicted the men could face 10 years in jail or 20 000 baht fine. No doubt they will pay the fine and move on to the next sucker. And yes, how the hell did the passenger have access to the release handle?

Not to say they are given the choice, I think that is the beak's decision.

I read some comments on the various videos of this on YouTube and 1 makes a point of his thai wife who was filming doesn't make any noise or run to help him.
Another mentions anyone that knows parasailing knows these harnesses can't just fail like that.
(Sorry mick.)

Ok Perry Mason, i too have witnessed bad things happening in front of me and never made a noise or run towards anyone to help them, as some times the brain is slow in reacting to what they have just seem, and it takes "time" before the realisation hits home... Further..how was the harness released then ?...if he was cut away then the rozzers would know wouldnt they ? Could he have simply slipped out the harness ? But lets assume for a minute "er in doors" had a hand in it....why go to such elaborate lengths and schemes to have someone bumped off.? 'You expect me to talk?'...“No, Mr Bond, I expect you to die”

Read an article on this case in one of the UK rags, dont know what they are teaching them in journo school these days but apparantly 71m equals 100 foot according to the person who wrote the piece one wonders why some people are considered thick as pig shit in the UK...

Well the operators are claiming the victim. This is what Coconuts said about that.
You know what? If a 70-year-old tourist can release himself from his harness that easily, maybe you need a different kind of harness.

But isnt this the point of going tandem ?..so the punter doesnt have their hands on critical bits of kit and does things like this I could understand a quick release system on a parachute rig to dump the main before releasing the emergency, but parasailing is a bit low to the ground for that Couldnt this just be a simple case he wasnt strapped in properly and slipped out the harness ?

He looked to be strapped in securely. Leg straps, check. Chest strap, check. I believe the quick release is there in case you get swung towards powerlines (or similar) as happened to that lass in Thailand last year (or early this year?). There is no reason for it to be anywhere within reach of the passenger.
