I read some comments on the various videos of this on YouTube and 1 makes a point of his thai wife who was filming doesn't make any noise or run to help him. Another mentions anyone that knows parasailing knows these harnesses can't just fail like that. (Sorry mick.) I have to agree that it beggars belief.

Beggars belief even more if that is possible. I had several hundred skydives with a similar parachute (28' pc. Same as this only steerable) in the early eighties. The leg straps are the only bit keeping you in the sky. Using "rings" on the leg straps sounds like the same ring system used in the cut-away. Crazy. Leg straps in Australia have been the full loop type for decades. Whatever the cause, losing a passenger is incomprehensible.
