Great news that they are automating it. At least now we can get through the stinkhole as quickly as possible when we have to go there. Next time try KL, the only airport I have been in where I had to effin enter the country to exit it to get another flight. I have travelled through KL many a time, and used the transfer desk in the arrivals hall.

Has anyone stayed at any of the airside hotels at Changi? I have a quick overnighter coming up and don't feel like passing immigration just to get some sleep. $300 for 6 hours for 3 is a bit steep but typical of Singaporean money grabbing. Plan B is to stay a few nights and waste another day at the zoo or the bay.

Interesting fact about the place is that it was built by the Japanese using Allied POWs. Well, it seems this year the POWs have really outdone themselves. They must be proud. And tired- they should really be allowed to go home now. Is Tokyo ever going to cut them some slack?

I haven't strayed at an inside hotel but have at theRaddison which has nice runway views and you can get everywhere easily because od the train right at the door. A bit pricy but worth it. I did not find the breakfast special though.

Changi feels like it would have been lovely -back in 1984 that is.
I was sitting there once , minding my own business, when a lady who worked there approached me and asked if I'd participate in a survey for 10 minutes , and in exchange I'd receive a gift.
Ok , so question after question about Changi and Singapore, then finally it was gift time!
A fking Changi ballpoint pen!

I logged in just to give that a like. The most overrated airport in the world. Care to tell us where you think is better. Swampy is better. The new KL airport is good. Its hard work getting from 1 end of Changi to the other with 2 young kids I can tell you that. Changi sprawls too much.

We normally stay in Chinatown but not worth it for a six hour break in the middle of the night.

There are fa direct flights from Aust east coast to Bangkok now. Thai Airways is about it. Only a few years ago there was a great choice including BA and Qantas. A few fly direct to Phuket which is convenient if you happen to like Phuket as a transit. Once was once too often.

Do that!

Scattered around are free recliner chairs which can give a fair rest. If you are not sleeping just bored go on the free bus tour of Singapore. I know we have seen it before but you do this without entering Singapore and gives a break.
