Ten sailors missing, five injured after US warship collides with oil tanker near Singapore Ten US sailors were missing after a US destroyer collided with an oil tanker in southeast Asia, the second serious accident involving American Navy ships in the region in little more than two months. Rammed with the starboard side both times now. Whatever happened with "Damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead!" Just saw a more full picture. In this incident the USS destroyer rammed on port side. The USS Fitzgerald rammed the cargo vessel with it's starboard side. Shall we say 'three times lucky' ? Jokes aside, bad news about the missing sailors. These peace time accidents and deaths are even more difficult for the family to grasp and digest. Wish them strength. |
