Are the worms in Issan different to any of the worms in the rest of Thailand? No they're not.
Are the bugs and scorpions any different in Bangkok to Issan? No they're not.
A friend of mine ate a scorpion once and found out why they're eaten. He tripped balls .

Proper Isaan food is fine.
I tried one of those fried scorpions on Khao San Road and it was like eating a charcoal bomb.

Twelve Thais ate mushrooms, the sober ones threw up and lived, the lao kao drinkers died. Issan food, no way, wouldnt feed it to my dog. |

I've not been to Issan. I hear the buffet smorgasboards are thin on lobster and caviar. Dont worry, there is no good reason to go. Ahan issan,  , even the locals cant stand it, take them to a muu ga ta place and watch them chomping down whatever is put on that burner. Every so often some dumb farang strays off the tourist trail and ends in in some backwater one buffalo town, trying to curry favour with the locals he takes them to a seafood joint, its like effin locusts on a feeding frenzy, arms spinning faster than a windmill, and all the while managing to snap off selfies to upload to face ache. |

The Only reason why I am here for a portion of each year is because whatshername has family and friends here (also two homes and graduated from KKU), otherwise I wouldn’t have stepped foot here. This is her home and you do things for loved ones you might not typically do. She tolerates my home (South Florida) each year so it’s give and take.  |
