Whatever it is you got a bargain at 12 baht per square metre.
I've heard that Bermuda turf is quite common around Buriram for some reason, perhaps there's a grower there - also, the South should see a fair amount of it, perhaps try asking at a golf course where it's commonly used.
I read the article you posted re. grass trimmings and I agree but with a few caveats: for that approach to work you would need to cut every few days to make sure the trimmings are small enough to fall between the blades of grass, if they're too long they will prevent new shoots from sprouting and the lawn will suffocate and die; am unsure how that would work longer term with Malay which is a broadleaf, every time I've tried leaving trimming on the lawn it looks like crap; in the wet season I cut my grass every five to six days, in the dry season I cut about once a month, if that, cutting small trimmings would mean cutting almost daily and that's not on, no siree.

Do what the muslims in Bkk do, get some goats and sheep, fatten them up on your nice grass, then butcher them, cant beat a nice goat mattsaman, or lamb chops.

But then what do I do with the pigs buffalo and geese! 'Fraid not, there's already enough wild life in my garden without adding more - I've got tree and grass snakes as well as the odd python that emerges from the klong and sachays across the lawn and over the wall en-route to the rice fields; crabs scorpions and frogs galore as well as a variety of birds ranging from small and cute to big and ugly (snake hunters). Oh yes, and then there's the bugs, if you've ever seen the giant moth caterpillar it's frightening, white, about three inches long and two inches around.

Our mower has a mulching attachment. Basically it clips in where the catcher normally is and no matter how long the grass is it gets cut up fine enough to spread over the grass as you mow. Seems to work well.

Sounds a bit like the much talked about farang "trouser snake" the girls in Pattaya tell me about.

Fletch is slowly picking up a little knowledge about lawns in Thailand. Souties comment about artificial turf is one I definitely consider more for behind the house which gets little sun and only partial rain because of house roofs. I look at all the houses in the street and they all have the same issue in that area. Some are completely dead. Ours is just mostly On the rest of the lawn we've some room for improvement but not too bad. Compared to people who've had their lawn down for more than a few weeks though we're doing quite well. Most other people's is either very long, large brown patches or both . Best seems to be a week or so after it is laid then after that starts going downhill We started with the Japanese grass they put down, but since then bought Nuan Noi, a more local grass หญ้านวลน้อย also known as Zoysia matrella or Manila Grass . Today the Mrs went to Or Tor Kor market near Chatuchak ตลาด อตก . She acquired some Bermuda grass seeds, so we'll end up with 3 different types soon As mentioned above most people seem to buy turf in Thailand and it seems a cheaper route too. The tin she bought says imported from the US and cost 800 baht for 1 lb in weight which is about 0.454 Kg Googling around it seems 1 m2 for a new lawn is about 70g, and for overseeding 35g - 50g per 1m2. So the amount we've bought in a tin seems enough for 6.5 m2 (new) or up to 13m2 (overseeding). So not exactly going to go far, even if I get it right in seeding it The maths guy in me realises that comes out around 130 baht per 1m2 (new) or half that for overseeding. That's around 10 x what we paid for the turf no counting Fletch's labour cost The main experiment though is going to be to just overseed areas that are struggling a bit, where I don't want to start from scratch, as at least it's working a bit. Otherwise buying new turf risks putting me in idiot country of repeating the same exercise with the same flawed results. Though admittedly I've more idea what I'm doing now, and may make a better job of it. Also as we've moved we can water as required, whereas before we hadn't moved in so it ended up with a few days of not watering when it probably should have So any tips on overseeding or seeding from scratch in Thailand? Or actually even a dummies guy of what to actually do My knowledge at this point is 1) put down some more soil, 2) scatter some seeds and 3) water it. But I can think of all sorts of variations like: - should the seeds be on top of the soil or covered like plant seeds are? - How much soil is appropriate to put on patches where there is already some grass? - When overseeding, should I completely cover existing grass with soil so it doesn't show and is underneath, or should it be sticking up thru the soil? - What's the best way to ensure getting around 35g per 1m2/ tricks of the trade? - How long will the seeds in the tin keep once opened?/need to change containers. - Will the local birds all be after my seed ? / Should I use some from of protection? As you can see Fletch has no experience of grass seeding and is a complete newbie. So all comments welcome Cheers Fletch Edit: All this assumes I get hold of a can opener to open the tin. The ones we have are still at the condo, so opening a can is even stretching my abilities at this point

I'd find grass that has runners. Then dig up 1 shovels worth and place that in your yard.
Water the crap out of the area.
6 months later it'll be a nice green lawn.

Ferk that shoit, get the local 300 baht a day Burmese labourers in to pour concrete.
My mrs sits on the terrace in the morning as she drinks coffee, even the locals know better than to acknowledge her, wanting pot plants that weigh a ton moved from a to b.
FFS mrs rgs, we just moved them from there last week, now you want them put back again.
