From the linked article:
"Police said he had a history of mental illness. They said they are not treating the incident as terror-related."
Funny how they felt the need to use bold to emphasise the non-terrorist point. Still, I do wonder whether we'll find out his name is Mohammed. After all, driving cars into people does appear to be a new hobby amongst the Islamically-inclined.

It's sad, real sad the police finds it necessary to make these statements to prevent outbursts of 'self-righteous' bigots. IMHO of course.

The article itself didn't use bold. www.theage.com.au/victoria/bomb-squad-investigating-car-after-driver-armed-with-knife-drove-wildly-through-cbd-20170929-gyrt4r.htmlA 15-year old from Knowfield. Not really different from some American kids who shoot their classmates in droves. Mentally disturbed.

The blog had bold as if to reassure the readers. The article itself didn't use bold. Funnily enough, the article is a bit more circumspect than the blog about the possibility of this being an act of terrorism, with "at this stage counter-terrorism links is not something we are looking at in any depth" - so not ruling it out.

I remember the last Melbourne car attack Garsagoulas or whatever he was called, media stressing that it was just a mentally ill guy, not muslim etc. Of course, few weeks later turns out 1) he WAS muslim, and 2) he was extreme muslim fanatic. Now not in media at all, everyone forgot. This is why Ozzie media does this mentally ill dog and pony show. Fools lap it up. Rubl, did you lap up the BS from the Ozzie media? Silly question

I'm sure the police also didn't automatically rule out the involvement of NK or our little green friends from Mars

Silly question Tjeez man, have mercy with a poor mentally ill Greek, Islamic, Kurd. Even breitbart was friendly "Driver in Melbourne Car Attack Named as ‘Greek Islamic Kurd’ with Mental Health Issues" www.breitbart.com/london/2017/01/20/driver-in-melbourne-car-attack-named-as-greek-islamic-kurd-with-mental-health-issues/Anyway, here we have a 15-year old kid from Knoxfield and the rest is speculation. PS Maybe I should start a thread on the mental stability of those who seem to search for specific events just to vomit out their hatred and discontent from behind the safety of their keyboard.

Oh, by the way, the Greek was a self-confessed Yarsani, believer of Yazdanism. From the description in wiki I doubt the 'real' Muslims who already have a problem with Shiites would even call these Yazdas Islamites. Probably none would even be allowed to Mecca (assume some would want to that is) "Yazdânis do not maintain any of the requisite five pillars of Islam; nor do they have mosques or frequent them. The Quran to them is as respectable as is the Bible, and yet each denomination of this religion has its own scriptures that the adherents hold in a higher esteem than any one of the former or others." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yazdânism

Amazing, I'm sure I heard such things before, turn to extreme islam and become a violent nutcase. What is it about the religion of peace that makes its adherents so violent?

Tjeez man, have mercy with a poor mentally ill Greek, Islamic, Kurd. Even breitbart was friendly Didn't realise you were a fan of Breitbart. Nasty, hateful site. Never read it myself. Best avoided. Not sure that the "Islamic" epithet is appropriate - Yazdânism predates Islam and really has very little in common with it. Closer to Zoroastrianism in my opinion.

Tjeez, since when does the DailyMail consort with Jihadies? Seems they are to be investigated as their reporting turns people into violent haters Also interesting is that the Greek Islam Kurd of the Yazdani faith only turned to Islam AFTER being jailed. Surely a deep-state plot to let suitable material come in contact with Jihadies just waiting for such fools while posing as fellow inmates. BTW seems prisons seldom turn people into good citizens independent of the religion of their fellow inmates. But I guess that aspect you would like to ignore.

I don't care if he is Greek or muslin or whatever. He tried to run over and kill some law abiding folk. I hope the law comes down on him. A full $200 fine and a stern warning.

Yes, if he had a mental illness why was it not treated. If he had been offered treatment but did not take his medication he should be tried just as any other person. If not, why was he left to put others at risk. He should get compulsory treatment and this should continue for the same period it would if he had been convicted. He is under 16 but if he is old enough to drive he is old enough to be charged as an adult and should be. Muslim or not people deserve safety in their everyday lives.
