Do any of you buy items in Thailand to onsell back home to make a bit of extra cash?
I'm finding these days the Thai copy items are getting much better. Even the old fake Rolex aren't far off having the continuous sweeping seconds hand. Give them a couple more years and I bet they get it.
On the watches , I wish I'd brought more back with me. I sold out in 2 days. Not a big profit but still 100% profit.
My sisters friend does handbags and sells them on. Not huge numbers of them but enough to earn her a few hundred dollars.
I know there's a group of Thai girls in Aus who started a Facebook page selling foods they get into Australia. I have a feeling they're doing very well they have alot of followers and they sell via bank transfer and send via post.
Anyone else have any items they buy and onsell?

I know a bloke who bought 2 shipping containers of stuff back from Thailand a few years back and couldn't sell a thing. He now has a house full of wood carvings and sarongs. Can't imagine how much he wasted but it would have been thousands of dollars.

And Rob is a strange kant. Every time you ran into him he was in your face. "No Rob, I don't want a effing wood carving". He might have been better off using ebay.

There was a Luxemburger in Ayutthaya who I believe did pretty well out of selling replica swords made by workers at Aranyik village at high prices. I understand he negotiated an exclusive agreement with workers to prevent anyone moving into the same line of business. The two lessons I draw from this are: have a unique niche product, and make sure nobody can copy your idea.

True AYG but convincing a Thai to sell exclusively wouldn't be easy.

One suspects with ebay one of issues is the cost of using that platform, from what i understand, it can seriously dent ones profit on a product with the costs they impose...and guess you would getting hit twice if your using paypal for the commerical transaction

He bought back a heap of those 50 baht battery mosquito whackers that look like a tennis racket and tried to sell them for $20 each. Everyone just laughed him down.

I have no experience with ebay. Either way he completely mucked it up. Problem I saw was he was simply asking too much. Who would spend 30 thousand baht on a timber room divider that we could buy ourselves for 10 thousand? And he was targeting people who regularly visit Thailand. Idiot.
