"Will Cape Town be the first city to run out of water? Cape Town, home to Table Mountain, African penguins, sunshine and sea, is a world-renowned tourist destination. But it could also become famous for being the first major city in the world to run out of water. Most recent projections suggest that its water could run out as early as March. The crisis has been caused by three years of very low rainfall, coupled with increasing consumption by a growing population. The local government is racing to address the situation, with desalination plants to make sea water drinkable, groundwater collection projects, and water recycling programmes." www.bbc.com/news/business-42626790

Yes most likely...and its been on the cards for nearly 20 years...upgrades to systems not done, new water sources not looked for ie , maintenance not done...desalination projects not progressed etc etc
The most recent outrage is the proposed introduction of a water levy, ie a tax on a tax if you will, which some might say is a good step, except for this point, the amount one pays as the levy is based on the value of your property, not on the amount of water you use or waste...

Tjeez Soutie, some people there are so poor as to have no water meter BTW no doubt some of the properties owned by 'government' people will be exempt.

Sounds like the UK's old rates system. And this be the problem, people already pay rates based on their property value and of course their monthly water bills, fact is what they are trying to do is illegal and someone will have them in court in the near future i am certain....its a tax on a tax Similar years ago, the council and the rozzers put speed traps on the dock roads and were fining a lot of people, until some realised the dock roads in Cape Town are not public highways, but private roads, under "Transnet" and they had no right or permission to install speed traps on those roads ...a concerned citizen took the council/traffic dept to court and won and the fkers had to pay all the fines back Attachment DeletedJust to give you an idea how serious this water thing is Theewaterskloof Dam just outside Cape Town, the building in the background is the pump station and that used to be just about at the water level in the dam Attachment Deleted

The lunatics have taken over the asylum. I watched years ago as "Big Joyce" a saffer tore into some western libtard snowflake. Even better her white saffer co worker Zee joined in with her and tore this dumb white seppo apoligist a new one. From what i remember the words went something like, "this is sth africa not alabhama"

I remember calling Yorkshire Water about switching to a meter. The gave me an estimate as to my monthly bill. It was more than the bill I was getting by a mile. I declined.

My relatives are fine, they have a borehole on the property with plenty of water and are currently getting a reverse osmosis and ion exchange system installed, so they have potable water.... the waters will flow, the boerwors will be eaten, Klippies/ coke guzzled and the 6000 VAC electric fence keeps a buzzing......'N boer maak 'n plan” So in the imortal words of Roger Waters..."im alright Jack, keep ya hands off my stack"
