DSI investigating foreigner claiming to be “one of them” The Department of Special Investigation said Monday it was investigating a foreign man claiming to be one of its “special agents” and would prosecute him if he broke any laws. The department said in a statement it was investigating the actions of French national Thierry Perenon, who over the weekend threatened reporters from a news agency. The DSI statement said it had confirmed with its office in east Thailand that he was not one of its agents. “If any member of the public was affected by actions of the said individual, they are advised to file legal complaints at a local police station or alert the Department of Special Investigation at 1202,” said the statement signed by deputy chief Korrawat Panprapakorn. pattayaone.news/en/dsi-investigates-foreigner-claiming-one/

It looks genuine. He is wearing a tee shirt with "police" on it.

From the article: In a phone interview, Korrawat said Perenon misrepresented himself, as he’s only part of a “foreigner network program” in Pattaya – a group of volunteers who help send tips about potential crimes or transnational gangs to the DSI – and not a sworn officer. Volunteers have no legal authority, he said.
So basically he is a police grass.

Is it Peter Fool and his pimped up pick-up?
A real case of 'when the TPV go wrong; giving good evidence that the whole thing is a joke and foreigners simply can't handle any degree of (assumed) pretend authority in Thailand as it goes to their heads and they end up making a total tw*t out of themselves and firmly in line for 'Walt Of The Year' and it's only March!!!!
What a utter knobend...He's even gone and had a uniform made up for himself, there are serious issues with this prat which need looking into.
Interesting that there seems not to be a thread over there covering this topic....I think it may be a bit 'close to the bone' for them?

In S B circles the parlance used was ''asset.'' In certain other circles the term might be 'fink', or a 'mouchard' if you pardon the french

I'd love to turn up at work in one of those costumes and stare the boss down. Where can I get one tailored?

You must be referring to Colonel Robert Malcolm McInnes (Thai Police Counter Terrorist Unit). pattayadailynews.com/nz-national-pattaya-personality-detained-on-weapons-charges/I remember watching one of the documentaries about Thailand (I think that it was 'Big Trouble in Tourist Thailand') where his 'crack' squad shot out the tyres of a Thai's car during a chase. He was the biggest Walt in Pattaya at the time and he did a great job of drawing attention to himself. Up until the documentary the Pattaya plod were happy to take his donations but when he went national they suddenly had to explain to the chief of police why a rogue farang was allowed to act as SWAT with more arms and ammo than most central American countries. In the end for the Pattaya plod it came down to 'being moved to an inactive post' or giving up the Walt (a sacrificial offering). After his arrest TVF gained about 20 more members, as his roid-head followers joined to protest his innocence and threaten anyone who dared to say anything bad about him. They called him Sifu. An utter cock of the first order. The show also highlighted Howard's efforts as a plastic policeman and although at the time I thought 'what a knob' at least Howard was doing it for the right reasons and he didn't appear to be on a power trip.

The other thing was that all of his equipment, the shooters, ammo, uniforms (for him and his team) and vehicles were paid for out of his own pocket. He even had to pay the local plod, so that they would allow him to play.

For a while whenever I got into a sleeping bag I missed the 'warm' feeling of cuddling my trusted UZI while dozing off
