I was kicked in the nuts by a girl when I was nine years old. I never EVER spoke to her again. I still remember the pain now. Gawd. At least it didn't permanently put you off with the ladies. Could be worse Mind you, rumour has it a few years later you did join up, for some solid reasons

The European Hymn "Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” was composed in 1824, in the final movement of his last, and arguably most famous symphony, Symphony No. 9. The premiere took place in Vienna on May 7, 1824, and despite its unpracticed and underrehearsed presentation, the audience was ecstatic. It was the first time Beethoven had appeared on stage in 12 years. At the end of the performance (though some sources say it could have been after the 2nd movement), it was said that Beethoven continued conducting even though the music had ended." www.thoughtco.com/beethovens-ode-to-joy-lyrics-history-724410"Thy magic power re-unites All that custom has divided, All men become brothers, Under the sway of thy gentle wings. Whoever has created An abiding friendship, Or has won A true and loving wife, All who can call at least one soul theirs, Join our song of praise;"

Well here is the covert EU version. The National Anthem of Germany was composed by Joseph Haydn . It is a part of Haydn's Kaiser Quartet. Well, we all know what the result was for both Germany and the Kaiser don't we. Mind you the later version had some dire results for Germany too. This clip belows reveals the true E U aims to be a new Empire, won't work though.

I know on this forum opinions may be against me but I'd say that "Deutschland ueber Alles" is not much different from "Britania rules the Waves". Both somewhat Nationalistic songs.
The European Hymn though talks about "All people be brothers", no reference to a single country.

BTW did you know that before the Germans hijacked the tune is was the Austrian version of "God save the Emperor". ""Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser" (God Save Emperor Francis) is an anthem to Francis II, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire and later of the Austrian Empire. The lyrics were by Lorenz Leopold Haschka (1749–1827), and the melody by Joseph Haydn. It is sometimes called the "Kaiserhymne" (Emperor's Hymn). Haydn's tune has since been widely employed in other contexts: in works of classical music, in Christian hymns, in alma maters, and as the tune of the "Deutschlandlied", the national anthem of Germany." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gott_erhalte_Franz_den_Kaiser

Since some expressed an interest in corporal punishment, for various reasons we will not discuss here, let's see how 'billenkoek' (spanking) looks like in slow motion. Filemon Wesselink is 'known' from Dutch television a.o. www.imdb.com/name/nm2213653/Slome Sterren - Filemon geeft billenkoek

A different view on classical music "A comedian rants about how much it sucks to play Pachelbel's Canon in D on a cello. Recorded live at Penn State, this piece by comedian/musician Rob Paravonian has been a favorite on the Dr. Demento Show." Also cello 2CELLOS - Thunderstruck [OFFICIAL VIDEO]

For example Sonya Yoncheva - Lehar - Giuditta - Meine Lippen, sie kussen so heiss (my lips, they kiss so hot) or a bit of relaxation "The Merry Widow: "We're the Ladies of the Chorus""
