BTW, the phrase 'We thrive on havoc' was the motto for my platoon when I was a CPO on the 81mm mortar. Nothing creates havoc like a spot of air-burst.   Mine was bigger In the Netherlands army the 120mm-"HB Rayé" mortar was used. I was the corporal responsible for the sightunit. As far as I'm aware the 81mm is the biggest caliber mortar used by the British army, certainly on a battalion level it is. The only time that I have seen a 120mm mortar was an Argentinian one and it was long abandoned by the time that we came across it. |
