As to the Bloomberg article
" If, as would be likely, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria and Finland followed Germany's lead, perhaps to form a new currency bloc, the euro would depreciate even further."
Personally I think that if Germany would indicate to see leaving the Euro as best option, the other countries mentioned above would join up with Germany and make sure the move to be seemless. Seemless for them that is. I don't think though such move would really help the remaining countries in the Euro.
BTW I think Bloomberg forgot Luxemburg and maybe the Chech Republic.

Why not just wholly abandon the Euro and the EU and all go back to their former currencies whilst at the same time restoring the old common market through FTA's?

In fact that comment from Merkel should read thus.
Greek debt crisis: Germany 'may consider' debt relief
German Chancellor Angela Merkel says she is prepared to consider further debt concessions to Greece once its latest economic reforms are worked out. These concessions will of course be funded by the hard working tax payers of the countries concerned thus enabling the Brussels Bureaupratts crooks to continue their ongoing con game and sustain their lavish lifestyles and further consolidate their political power..
In many ways one is led to think that perhaps Merkel is an offspring of Herr Hitler as she seems to be doing her utmost to ensure that the dreams of Herr Hitler to dominate Europe are finally fulfilled.

Lools like a significant chunk of cash could be "released" to the Greeks. Not much mention of actually paying anyone back tho +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Greece, Creditors Agree on Bailout Deal, Ministry Spokesman SaysBlomberg 11 August Greece clinched a deal with the institutions representing its creditors on a rescue package that would release as much as 86 billion euros ($94 billion), a Greek Finance Ministry spokesman said. The talks with the officials from the European Commission, the European Central Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the European Stability Mechanism successfully wrapped up in the early hours of Tuesday, Finance Ministry spokesman Theodoros Mihopoulos said in a text message. Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos told reporters after the talks that just “one or two very small details” remain, in comments broadcast on Skai TV. www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-08-11/greece-creditors-agree-on-bailout-deal-ministry-spokesman-says

Surprised to read Greece's GDP grew, but as the article says more to it than that ================================================= Greece's Economic Surprise Isn't What It Seems Growth in real GDP driven by deflationGreece's economy expanded 0.8 percent in the second quarter, a forecast-busting figure that defied all expectations. But it won't last, according to economists, who say the imposition of capital controls will have taken a chunk out of production at the start of this quarter. We've already seen Greek manufacturing PMI drop to a record low in July, giving a taster of the weakness. There's also an ominous signal from the European Commission's sentiment indicator, which is back at its lowest level in almost three years. contd. www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-08-13/greece-s-economic-surprise-isn-t-what-it-seems
