Long time to speak/comment, folks! Hope all is good on the fine Big Mango, I randomly decided to move to teach in Mongolia-why not?! So far an interesting place to live- hearty food, nice people and sadly some of the worst behaved students I have come across- worth a thread on its own . Some pics Accommodation is free, and of a far better quality than Myanmar. You can tell there is a lot of Russian influence in interior design The school itself looks stunning As office views go, I can't complain! The Russian influence extends to the streets of UB The countryside is nice! Swapped soi dogs for soi camels

Methinks when winter comes that will indeed be an interesting experience. Mind you I consider your move (whimsical or not) a brilliant one. Leading where others fear to follow. In my eyes if I saw that experience on your C V you would be hired Oh that I was 30 years younger, I'd be knocking on your door to borrow a cup of sugar.

Got in from South Korea this morning after picking up my work visa, glad that is done for a couple of years- loved SK, would happily live there but it was such a short trip is was exhausting. It was also rather last moment, so had to fly like this The air has taken a turn for the worse and the temp drops- want to go outside? You best dress for it and protect eyes/lungs

I was about to run a book on which far off land you would pop up in next. Great looking crib that youv'e got. I presume that part of the contract stipulated that the pantry has to be fully stocked with jars of Preggo at all times.

No drunk housemates, I live alone and couldn't be happier about it. Mongolian horses are very aggressive and seem to dislike white people quite strongly. As for finding a yurt mate, discretion is the keyword, the local men get very angry if you pick up girls from bars- better to go to the Shangrila and pick up a freelancer in Skywalker...erm..so I've been told.

Well if you fancy teaching kindergarten, then sure! Most teachers used to be in the Peace Core, they make a good transition to teaching imo. Today is allegedly the last "warm" day of the year. I'm ready

The snow has returned, but the fridge is full of beer, so let it snow all it wants.

Winter looks to be a long haul. Beware the beer though. Solitary comfort is fine as long as you're in control.

Winter looks to be a long haul. Beware the beer though. Solitary comfort is fine as long as you're in control. No beer on school nights, and four max on weekends unless I want to hit the town with friends, then the sky is the limit. Alcoholism is a blight on society here,it really messes folks up. I was in my local shop last night getting some coffee, the woman in front of me buys a half bottle of vodka from the counter and necks it there and then- she had the shakes before.
