It looks like GBP is sinking against USD on the back of the prospect of a no-deal Brexit, mid-rate of 40.69 as I write. I guess that scenario is not going to become clear until Brexit is agreed, if we crash out exchange rates could get ugly.....my expectation is that a deal will be agreed before then but whether or not it will satisfy the FOREX market remains unknown.

I know it's an old topic, but a question re Citibank and UK state pension. It is my understanding that the UK sends the money to Citibank, which then transfers it to the bank recipients use. This turns up as an internal rather than international payment. Would it be worthwhile opening a Citibank Account? I dont want to be the bearer of bad news, probably best to talk to your local immi and ask if citibank is acceptable. I watched one of the mighty wazzas rants on youtube, where he was somewhat alarmed after being told citibank wasnt an acceptable place to park his money, reason, its not a thai bank, money must be in thai bank account only. Posted for fyi purposes only.

The rules say it must be a bank in Thailand, not that it must be a Thai bank in Thailand, that said I can imagine that some I/O somewhere thinks that CitiBank doesn't qualify. CB has three branches in Thailand and does hold a retail banking license from BOT. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_banks_in_Thailand

Reminds me of another forum where some sort of god quotes rules and regulations as if they are gospel, its up to the indivdual officer at the desk at the time. , took me about a minute to translate that into an acceptable thai sentence, your average joe doesnt not speak thai and is hindered by his walking dictionary who will not dare question anyone in a uniform. ต้องการเป็นธนาคารที่บ้านเราไม่ต้องคือธนาคารไทยอยู่ที่ประเทศไทย, AyG and Fletch will be along shortly to pick me up on my poor thai, .
