My problem is everyone else's health. Or lack thereof. I'm the last one vertical from a long line of shift workers. A couple of them didn't even bother clocking out at work, got taken out on a trolley. I asked my son if he'd rather have a rich dead dad or a poor alive one, and he settled for the later. Oldie when I came I only had myself to think about, I could move on anytime I wished. Doing it with a family is different again, I am as sure you are up to it as I am sure I would never have been. Making the decision is probably the hardest part, when you've done that the rest falls into place and is a matter of getting the necessary done.

The biggest expenses are all the bullshit fees, taxes, insurances, levies..... The rest is manageable.

My work came to a natural end in HK at age 52, the Worldcom debacle meant the industry took a dive and I couldn't be bothered waiting for it to come back up. BT had just paid me a truly preposterous amount so I thought I'd take a year off and relax in Thailand. 22 years later I'm still here. I never consciously said, I'm going to retire, I just stopped working and never really went back. I left myself open to offers and one did come up after a few years which saw me back in the UK for s few months one summer, after that I knew where I lived. If I remember correctly Ebbers got a 25 year fully paid stay at one of America's finest 'hotels' (no, not a Trump chain hotel).

This morning about 06:30 I bought some BBQ-ed heart and liver outside around the corner, here in my neck of the woods. Delicious. My dog also likes it.

There are more planes in the water than submarines in the air.

Why do submarines have fly screens? To keep the fish out.

Nothing deep about Oldie. A little thick maybe. The judge didn't buy that line before your ancestors were sent to Botany Bay in the 1800's, and I quote: "The evidence is to the contrary m'lud, Mr Oldies plea of thickness is nothing more than a fiendishly clever ruse, designed to make us drop our guard, at which pivotal moment he would strike with devilish cleverness and cunning".

I think that oldie lad has been emptying a few buckets of the gear he makes, or possibly he's had a quick trip over here to inspect some of these new shops that are suddenly all over the place.

Oldie has 4 weeks off work for the first time ever, and hasn't had a drink for weeks and never smoked. I'm a new man. Frankly I'd be happy if I never worked again.
