In many ways I agree with you, I just accept it as part and parcel of living here, the guys I know in Fliippersville refer to it as a "skin tax" I have 4 bank accounts here, 1, visa money. 2, invest money, that is paid in monthly to. 3, monthly living expenses. 4. Emergency money. The mrs has access ot them all, pin numbers and atm.

Would this be the wrong time to mention I was at the Immigration One-stop Service center in Chamchuri Square, Sam Yan yesterday morning to get another yearly visa extension?

I wonder how <Terry F_kwitt> will get around this one? Bwahahaha! Bow down to your masters you colonial dog, the days of the Colonel Blimp types are gone. Know your place on the pecking order, Thailand never was, is not and never will be a cheap place for ex bus driver types to retire to. True. We forget that it only became cheap at the financial crash of '97. Before that it was not. Surprising how cheap it can still be for many things in the provinces. And even in Pattaya in places.

Bow down to your masters you colonial dog, the days of the Colonel Blimp types are gone. Know your place on the pecking order, first came the arabs, then came the russians, then came the chinese, next up are the indians. Rich guys in poor guys out. Lets be honest, Thailand never was, is not and never will be a cheap place for ex bus driver types to retire to. I'm starting to question why that should be so: heavily polluted, manically unsafe roads, poor quality on almost every front and expensive to boot! Fifteen years ago the argument was easily in favour and very clear, today it's bordeline if not questionable, for those with substantial wealth I think there are much better options.I can assure there are guys I know, myself included asking themselves that very same question. Its not about money, heres a wee song for you. No problems, have money have options, will travel. I am here for one reason and one reason only, TAX. UK is a great place, can only stay so many days a year then hammered for tax, Brexit, sooner that is sorted out the better (giving more options). I aint here for the women or cheap beer, I can get better elsewhere. Always had a soft spot for Cyprus, Spain, Portugal, etc etc. Another was mentioned to me the other week, Turkey, buy a cheap condo and get a 5 year residency. As for dignity, an old friend on another forum, told me about him and his (Thai) mrs being jerked around and derogatory remarks being mentioned. His mrs told the girl to shut her mouth or there would be big problems. To cut a long story short, the guys mrs had a hotel closed down. Violation, violation, violation, violation. This was after she had pulled out her Gov't ID card, way above the local country bumpkins that tried it on.

Let's not p**s about, I came for competitively priced women and beer. Times change. All the places rgs mentioned I like. Plus London, Paris and Mew York. So what the <duck> am I doing in Nakhon Sawan? Complicated. But it suits me, with frequent visits to Bangkok and Pattaya. Plus it is <duck>ing cheap but you already knew that. Forget what the original point was, but there you go.

Oh yes, what is your idea of a cheap condo in Turkey or Greece?
But the more irritants there are to here, it is still better than the alternatives. To me anyway.

Heres another I mentioned in another post on another forum. mm2h.gov.my/index.php/en/home/programme/terms-conditionsLondon I dont like, Paris, beautiful city, full of frogs. The Ozzies ferked me over when they did away with the 500k A$ in the bank, if truth be known, did me a favour, Oz Land is off the wall for expenses these days. I tell you what Blackpool is looking more and more attractive these days, still can get a decent pint and the mrs can play bingo til her hearts content.

If you want cheap womem, those in the know, tell me to head to Lisbon, no need to pay sin sot, buy farm land, motocys, izuzu pickups (for their lazy hammock swinging brother), not mentioned, will cost you a fortune in gillette razor blades, .

Blackpool never really grabbed me.
London.....ah. I stayed for a good while in New Cross and there was a Sam Smiths pub nearby that did dark mild at 1.85 a pint. Sorry to offend some on here by talking cheap, but even 7 years ago it was a shame not to. A few nobheads there but nowhere is perfect.

Now you have got my attention, London I agree, thankfully the ozzies were usually found elsewhere and best avoided. Remember being in a polish place years ago, pictures of papa on the wall, the flutes and drums were going twenty to the dozen, even the ex air force polak pilots were joining in, the famines over, .

I wouldn't live full time in Thailand if it were free. The weather p**ses me 9 months of the year for a start.

The sad reality is, none of the 2 week millionaires want to believe it. Thailand is cheap, what they forget to mention is, how much they are paying for health insurance et etc etc, never mind, the buffalo is no longer sick.
