Yes I am well aware the Thai public has been sold the foreigner dirty tale....now the government have a stupid job trying to convince them otherwise....hilarious were the Thai government anything but a ridiculous military dictatorship. Still considering whether to undertake quarantine versus earning six figures over the next year.....hmmmm? Oh that's sterling for what its worth.

What's to decide, earning six figures for a few years is one of those once in a lifetime opportunities that must be seized upon with great gusto....just do it, don't think about it, he who hesitates and all that. I remember very well the last piece of work I did, the one that allowed me to retire at age 52. I had just finished a six month stint in Hong Kong and was walking through the airport on my way to the London flight, relieved at being able to finally get back home. My phone rang and the caller asked me if I would do a one year stint in HK for high five figures and without hesitation I said no, the call ended and I climbed aboard the BA010. Two days later they called me back and offered a package worth slightly below mid six figures and I said yes.....I suppose their first offer had to be tried otherwise they would never know. Thirteen months later I was pretty much a basket case but still alive and functioning and when I flew out of HK for the last time I was basking in the knowledge that from that point on my time was all my own, for the rest of my life, it's a feeling that can't be beat and is well worth the sacrifice.

Anyone give the reason for 21 days in Phuket rather than the WHO recommendation of 14 days? I'd assumed it was because the proposed isolation is not total, so there's a possibility of visitors infecting each other during the quarantine period. However, it doesn't really make a lot of sense, since a new arrival could infect someone on day 21 of their quarantine.

All this rigmarole concerning isolation, face masks social distancing personal application of hand gels, sprays etc is all very well. and possibly good tactics to minimise one's chances of infection.
But consider this.
Why in the event of Covid-19 being such a dreadful infection are there (not that I have seen and I am sure I am not alone) no secure sealable drop boxes, containers, etc all emblazoned with a hazardous waste sticker for the disposal of face masks, used tissues etc for the general public anyway so as one can dispose of the aforementioned articles safely? Later to be collected in specialised vehicles by people in Bio suits, to take away the sealed containers and their contents to be safely destroyed by burning, deep site burial etc?
Any answers from those who may be in the know concerning the issue or general views from anyone?

I don't know the answer to your question but I do know that used face masks have the very real potential to replace plastic bags as the worlds number one waste product.

All well and good. But pray why is there a difference according to an "expert" twixt masks etc disposed as hospital waste if originating from a medical facility with strict conditions and the disposal of masks etc originating from a domestic environment? Fox news probably explains the issue completely,a wonderful news source which is worse not by much though than the BBC news source(s).

I'm either going to bed at 3am or getting up at 1am. 12 hour shifts, my aging body aches from head to toe. I could happily move to a farm in Issan and eat sticky rice and bbq chicken for the rest of my life. But I'm also earning middle 6 figures and have a kid who really misses out on very little. Sometimes I think I should have worn a condom or I should pull up and live with less, but sooner than later the kid will be gone so might as well soldier on and enjoy every moment with him (which I thoroughly do)
