Trivia wise: Douglas Addams has been vindicated, his mention of the magnetic poles changing ends is in fact a reality and the likelihood is it will happen again, the last time being 42,000 years ago when the Neanderthal man was wiped out. And please note, there's that number 42 again which I guess is where he got it from in the first place. www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2021/02/210218142729.htm

And please note, there's that number 42 again which I guess is where he got it from in the first place. www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2021/02/210218142729.htmA not quite up-to-date wiki article "A geomagnetic reversal is a change in a planet's magnetic field such that the positions of magnetic north and magnetic south are interchanged (not to be confused with geographic north and geographic south). The Earth's field has alternated between periods of normal polarity, in which the predominant direction of the field was the same as the present direction, and reverse polarity, in which it was the opposite. These periods are called chrons. ... Changing frequency over time The rate of reversals in the Earth's magnetic field has varied widely over time. 72 million years ago (Ma), the field reversed 5 times in a million years. In a 4-million-year period centered on 54 Ma, there were 10 reversals; at around 42 Ma, 17 reversals took place in the span of 3 million years. In a period of 3 million years centering on 24 Ma, 13 reversals occurred. No fewer than 51 reversals occurred in a 12-million-year period, centering on 15 million years ago. Two reversals occurred during a span of 50,000 years. These eras of frequent reversals have been counterbalanced by a few "superchrons" – long periods when no reversals took place.[12]" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geomagnetic_reversal

That probably refers to my world only, which has been going pear-shaped for sometime now. For the rest of you the world is football shaped, at least according to XTC it is.

It's also the age that Elvis (and his mother) died at as well as the house number in the address on the scuba mask left behind by the diver who took Nemo (P. Sherman 42 Wallaby Way, Sydney, NSW).
