I guess the expression 'being send to Coventy' was in need of a more modern touch. Well, soon it may be "being send to Leeds" "Bank of England to move London staff to new hub in Leeds Bank to shift some of operation to north of England as part of plan to expand presence across UK The Bank of England has followed the Treasury in announcing that it intends to move staff out of London with the creation of a new northern hub in Leeds. Threadneedle Street said its expanded presence in one of the UK’s main financial centres outside London was part of an ambitious plan to increase its staff presence across the UK significantly. The plan coincided with an announcement that the Bank intends to close its cash centre in Leeds – where it stores and distributes notes – in 2023 and concentrate the production of cash at its plant in Debden in Essex. The northern hub will involve building on the Bank’s existing network of 12 regional agents, who act as the “eyes and ears” of policymakers by keeping in touch with local developments. I can imagine this must be fairly traumatic for them and counseling should be given. Shortly after I moved from the US to London I was sent on assignment to Bradford where I lunched in the executive dining room of the National Provincial BS, in downtown Bradford, I've not really been the same ever since if I think about it.

^^| Did you know ... that the Prime Minister considers a proposal to move Parliament to Bradford, as it is closer to the geographic centre of the country than London. Ehm, well, as she stated in one episode of "The Amazing Mrs Pritchard", the 2006 BBC series

Why not just make Leeds the capital, or better still, Bradford. Mosha's going, make it Dewsbury, please.

The BofE has a very good staff dining room. Great choice of delicious food. I wonder if they'll be replicating this in t'North. I suspect not; the BofE has a track record of treating its staff shoddily, such as the redundancy of most of its IT staff a few years ago.

This is shocking (but only to southern woofters).....with the BoE and the BBC both migrating to the North, how long will it be before we see these changes reflected in things such as the 6 o'clock news? During the war there was outrage and disbelief when a Northern voice was heard reading the BBC news headlines. It belonged to the actor, entertainer and Yorkshireman Wilfred Pickles, who had been at pains to tone down his West Riding dialect for the purpose. www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/lifestyle/bbc-voice-assistant-speaks-northern-accent-just-war-2879196

The BBC is much keener on having announcers/presenters with South Asian* and Negro** accents. Rather doubt Northerners will see much representation any time soon. 'Tis pity that the BBC doesn't choose to champion the country's indigenous peoples over the exotic immigrants. * George Alagiah/Reeta Chakrabarti/Geeta Guru-Murthy/Mishal Husain/Faisal Islam/Sima Kotecha/Naga Munchetty/Babita Sharma to mention just a few. ** Neil Nunes on Radio 4 is/was particularly horrific.

Can't wait for the day when i can tell them to go and shove it right were the sun don't shine. Not that i am an avid snooker fan, but believe me since the pandemic hit these shores picking have been slim to say the least. Anyway i counted that they must of had a team of about a dozen covering the event. Host presenters, present and ex players all no doubt being paid for their services, just for an event that is played over 2 weeks in a theatre. Then there are all the ex 2nd rate footballers that that are already well enough off, all with a joint IQ of a hamster that they not only have on giving biased views on football as well as spewing their opinions on other programs. I tell ya, the B.B.C. must of been rubbing their hands with glee when Covid 19 entered the equation. In other words, rake in the proceeds and flutter it away on shite !

Oi, don't be rude about hamsters. Wonderful, smart creatures. I suspect that most of them have an IQ higher than the average TVF poster.
