The list of requirements for the STV is hilarious...only for the truly deluded Does STV stand for short time visa, if it doesn't it should...TAT needs to start thinking outside the box? Sooooo, you're not comming....to Thailand I mean? Serious Question: why would a person go for an STV and not a regular TV or non imm. O? The only reason to get the STV is if you want to stay 9 months and are under 50. I'll be staying 4 months roughly...so exemption and extension then either border bounce if possible or covid extension if not. Simples.

When I say border bounce I mean champagne...a trip to M&S Food Hall then an evening at the Quays and a decent curry before flying back.
You really think I'd do a smelly van trip to Cambodia?

Whilst a trip to Singapore is technically a border bounce, so is a trip to the British Virgin Islands. If you're going to drink champagne, drink krug, why do things by halves.

Cant beat a Sunday afternoon session at Clark Quay while the mrs goes shopping, the price is that sweet spot, $8 a pint, priced to keep the laptop back packer brigade out. Never mind visa run, it got to the stage rather than flying from bkk to lhr or vice versa, the mrs and I would use Singapore airlines, then fly to or from Bkk, beats travelling with the bogans and chavs, beeter and more sophisticated drunkard on board. Border bounce, isnt that what the poor people do?

And that was at 2.75 Sing$ to sterling. The bar in Raffles hotel was £8 for a 330 ml Carlsberg draught. I had to go back to the hotel and have a lie down.

Note, to make things easier in opening up three schemes are set up. Details provided and amended as you go. Enjoy your holiday "Three schemes set to welcome visitors Thailand's reopening will introduce three entry schemes for international tourists, while the list of countries eligible for quarantine-free entry without area restrictions is expected to be released on Friday. The first scheme, called "Test & Go", will come with minimal requirements for inoculated tourists from low-risk countries who also have a high economic impact on Thai tourism, said Yuthasak Supasorn, Tourism Authority of Thailand governor. ... The second scheme named "Living in Blue Zone" is reserved for inoculated tourists from other countries apart from the list. ... Meanwhile, unvaccinated tourists still can visit the kingdom under the third scheme, named "Happy Quarantine", under which they must stay in alternative quarantine facilities for 10 days." www.bangkokpost.com/business/2202063/three-schemes-set-to-welcome-visitors

"Happy Quarantine" - well there's an oxymoron for you from the mouth of a true one.
And as for "Test & Go", it's requirements are far from "minimal", including ludicrous amounts of paperwork, unnecessary (and expensive) Covid tests, and incarceration in an hotel room for at least one night.

It all sounds much better than it was. One night in a hotel, after a long haul flight most people would welcome that, I certainly do. I'm not so sure about the $50k insurance, whilst it's good that the level has been dropped from $100k it still poses impossible problems for expats over age 75 years.

End of curfew is near, but pubs remain closed for now. "Govt ramps up reopening plan Night entertainment venues to stay shut Night entertainment venues will remain closed in 17 provinces during the initial stage of the country's reopening to vaccinated foreign visitors from 46 countries next month. Meanwhile, the nighttime curfew imposed to help curb the spread of Covid-19 will be lifted in 17 provinces, including Bangkok, on Oct 31." www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/general/2202715/govt-ramps-up-reopening-plan
