I tried explaining friction loss to all in attendance, I used single syllable words where possible, drew diagrams and pictures and even did simulations.....the audience nodded a collective, ah ha, as if the proverbial baht had dropped. The idea behind my explanation was to ensure waste water from the washing machine would enter the waste pipe and flow forth in an appropriate manner, instead of which, reports are now surfacing of flooding around the laundry area. How can this be so I asked myself......you did what, you put five separate 90 degree bends on a two meter pipe, really, you did that, aren't you a bright boy! I have switched off my phone.

Maybe just say that I rely on half a dozen fans rather than airco?
