Internal Combustion vehicles, Hybrids, or EVs, that is the question. Mind you, back to horse back is a possibility, walking another. Found this on FaceBook

Bloody hell chaps, we never had this much work when we used fossil fuels... Here's what it was like when wind power was utilised... Not always environmentally friendly either...

Toyota to make hydrogen out of waste from Thailand's CP...
Automaker tests equipment for the project to decarbonize Thai trucks
Toyota sees many options besides electric vehicles that can help decarbonize the transport sector. It is eager to develop hydrogen technology to power fuel cell vehicles.
Toyota Motor announced Monday that it will start producing hydrogen in Thailand from November using biogas, a step forward in its project with Thai conglomerate Charoen Pokphand Group to utilize hydrogen to help decarbonize the country's transport sector.
The Japanese automaker will install equipment that makes hydrogen using biogas at Toyota's Asia-Pacific headquarters in Samut Prakan province, south of Bangkok.
The biogas will be made from chicken manure provided by Thai poultry farms operated by CP Group and other parties, as well as food waste from the Toyota regional headquarters' cafeteria.
This will be the first time for Toyota or Thailand to launch a pilot project to make hydrogen using biogas, according to the automaker.
The equipment will be provided by the Japanese engineering company Mitsubishi Kakoki and can produce 1,000 liters of hydrogen per hour, which is a marginal amount suited for such experiments. Toyota and its trading arm, Toyota Tsusho, will create a system to compress, store and transport the biogas and hydrogen. Toyota has not disclosed how much it will spend on the project.
The initiative is part of the automaker's partnership launched last December with CP Group, which operates in such industries as retail, distribution, and agriculture. The two companies agreed to look into making hydrogen from biogas and using it to fuel hydrogen-powered delivery trucks that CP intends to introduce into its fleet to reduce carbon emissions.
The equipment will eventually be used for the project, although there is no concrete timeline yet.
Toyota's new management team, which took over in April, has strengthened pledges to compete in the market for electric vehicles and catch up with rivals like Tesla of the U.S. But the automaker continues to argue that EVs are just one option for reaching carbon neutrality in the transport sector. It is eager to develop hydrogen technology for use in fuel cell vehicles.

Yet another innovation concerning non-fossil fuel power units and it covers a large range of transportation ...
GAC China says it's building a "world first" ammonia engine for cars
GAC has presented what it calls the world's first ammonia engine for passenger cars – an alternative clean(er) motoring technology
Ammonia has been proposed as a clean fuel for ships, airliners, trucks and trains, but China's GAC believes it could also have a future in passenger cars. It's built a combustion engine to test the theory, capable of reducing emissions by around 90%.

Perhaps I'm missing something but it seems to me that here we are, decades on and we're still trying to decide which of the alternatives to fossil fuels is the best one, meanwhile, the pollution and temperature clocks tick on. Transition to any alternative will take at least a decade to complete and that's if e started with a known, fully developed product, today. This wont end well if things are left to the private sector.

For decades the oil & gas sector has been investing in the right scientists to deny or just obfuscate the issue of climate change, air pollution, ground water pollution and financed supported 'reasonable minded' politicians. Even now there's still the '... but, but, but' gang. All of that nonsense just leads to inaction and disaster. Don't tell deSantis that his Free State of Florida with only the right-minded people will soon drown.
For now EV is a good choice to have government support and other alternatives should be investigated in parallel but less promotion. The money for all that? Oil & Gas and taxation of a the real rich.
BTW the 'funny' memes on pronouns seems just another example of distracting from real issues. Elon Musk on Twitter promted having children and shows what he gives his nine kids, give them a happy life. Well, the kids born because the mother left without husband/boyfriend was forbidden to get an abortion, well those kids might not have a happy life.

Harking on about what we, the human race are doing to our environment is certainly interesting.
But let us look at or consider the bigger picture. Earth has gone through many cycles of both warming and cooling as many deep earth deep soil core sample and their analysis show us all long before we inhabited or infested the Earth.
Maybe certainly we are not helping to solve the problem but let's stop the mass hysteria and explore the facts. A small sample of these is available below in the link.

I blame rubl, you know how these European types are. You can call yourself lucky. When sea levels rise we Dutch won't move West but seek higher grounds to the East.

Although a larger part of climate change may be a natural process playing over millions of years it would seem Humanity is very capable and managed to speed up things a bit. Mind you, I might be slightly less worried about the changed situation in the year 3001 A.D. I'm more looking at the coming 40 to 50 years.

You guys are known for many things but higher ground isn't one of them. It's the only country I've ever been to where the curvature of the earth can be seen no matter where you are, ten feet above sea level is a big deal for them.

Did I mention higher grounds in the Netherlands? I said "to the East". BTW the highest point in Continental Netherlands is about 322,4 meters high. Near where I lived in Gelderland the highest point was about 109 meters. I must admit running up them Brecon Beacons towards 886 meters Pen-Y-Fen was a bit more challenging.
