Was down at a popular trendy and fashionable upmarket market today. It's all pucker, no riff raf, even has a trendy TOPS store in the middle of it. Everything's three times the price it is elsewhere. Anyway, 90% of the people there were Chinese, as we walked by, two tour buses disgorged their contents onto the sidewalk, all Chinese. No spacial awareness, no manners but some of the women are soooo hot! It's a sign of what's to come. I said to Mrs CM, I said, Mrs CM, I bet Thailand would bend over backwards to get even zero tour group income these days. Indeed she said, before she slapped me for oggling the Chinese girl in the short skirt with the big wobbly bits.

There's a lot of important things going on with regional currencies at present, notably the YEN and YUAN, the two have become siamese twins and are moving in tandem. This has the potential to drag down regional currencies, especially those who trade heavily with either country. China is allowing interest rates to fall, presumably in the hope of stimulating the economy. The YEN is falling because USD remains overly strong, a factor also impacting the YUAN.
An article in Bloomberg is behind a paywall but you may be able to find a free version.
"Closer Yen, Yuan Correlation Is Danger Sign for Asian Currencies. Asia's two most important currencies are moving together like never before, increasing the risk of a broad decline among their regional peers amid the relentless strength of the dollar".

Perchance a return to the good old days of 50 baht (or more) to the pound sterling, or a compensation factor to any shortfall Messrs. Starmer, Reeves and Co. Ltd. may impose on the pound sterling in the not too distant future.

EUR THB 100 EUR 3,926.30 THB Pound sterling equals 46.69 Thai Baht Jul 12, 06:32 UTC · Disclaimer It's just that the Pound/THB move of the past year or more is similar as the Euro/THB move. As such further moves this year might effect both currencies in the same way. Of course, there may be a British only effect due to the Labour Govenment, an E.U. only due to France and Hungary, and a crash with Donny Trump open to the highest bidder. BTW interesting the emphasise of some in the Press (and various social media) on Biden's gaffes while Donny Trump seems to have memory problems forgetting about his project 2025, mixing Biden/Obama and not being able to string a decent sentence together rambling on. Makes you wonder when old is too old.

Ah 'ramble on' from 1969. That's almost two generations ago. Yeah, but it's still brilliant. That may be so but the younger generations might not agree or even care. I'm in IT and was talking with a young guy, maybe 27 or so. He had heard about Compaq but DEC, Digital Equipment Corporation? A full blank. Such is life, time moves in this petty pace ... ...
