Anyone had it, slipped or prolapsed disc or spinal degeneration, if so, where and what were the results?
Alternatively is anyone in need of it and considering it?
Please!

I've had a prolapsed or slipped disc previously. The first time, 35 years ago, the pain was horrific and and I was three days away from an op when a chiropractor saved the day. Forty years later it's back, accompanied this time by age related spinal degeneration.....it's always the bottom two discs, L4/L5 and L5/S1. The problem with that combination is that pain is relieved for each using techniques that cause pain for the other, standing and walking is good for one, sitting and laying is good for the other.
It was painful whilst I was in hospital recently so I had an MRI, mostly because I was there and it was easy. BTW, the MRI machine was a Tesla no less, first one I've seen.
One of the benefits of being in hospital is that you can arrange extra treatments as needed so I asked around for a good spine doctor. A young chappie eventually showed up and we chatted, ah yes he said, you need a blah blah and blah blah blah. "How many have you done these before I asked"? "I do one a day, every day, have done so for the past 360 days". I was impressed, not so much by the doctor but at how skilled he ought to be. So I ordered a quote from the quoting department and eventually a nubile young quoter appeared and quoted. 340k, all in, it's the cheapest in town. And it was, the big private wants over 600k. The doc makes 75k a pop, he works at the big hospital most of the time so presumably earns much more.......that's some serious money.
Doctors in the UK 7 years ago were still advising against having the op where possible because the results can be even more painful, that I can't imagine! But today it's all micro surgery that barely requires a one night stay in hospital so the recovery and the results are more or less guaranteed. I've been through the Karma Sutra of sleeping positions and none work plus I sorely miss my morning run and doing useful stuff. I may not have a choice on this one, which is why I asked if anyone else had been through this, in order to see what the outcome might really be.

I have 2 knackered knees, a reduced cartilage. Most of the time the pain is manageable, but every so often I take tramadol. I don't want to get too reliant on it

I don't want to get too reliant on it I could trade you one knackered knee for a ferked vertebrae, but you'd have to throw in a case of Leo to make it attractive. Oldie's got a Junior Mr Doctor kit so we'd be good to go, all we need is a couple or three nubile nurses to take care of us me. Let me know what you think, it would be a Yorkshireman to Yorkshireman so it should work.

I was a regular there. Even lost my voice at one point with it. The knees have had me on all fours. The worst pain was actually cellulitis. I was thumping a wall at hospital outpatients waiting to see the doctor. I spent 4 days as an in patient over a New Year's holiday. My Mrs still hasn't forgiven me.

The bald patch is serious, I must admit but it pales by comparison to my ingrown toenail.

My neighbour, a Brit, takes two two 150 mg Tramadols daily his doc thinks it's ok! I've never tried them. I've got some Arcoxia which is a COX2 inhibitor (no rubl it doesn't mean that) which I've just found out are banned in the UK because apparently, people have heart attacks from taking them. You'd have thought that the doc might have mentioned a small thing like that beforehand......here, take these, they're really good for pain but watch out in case you have a heart attack and die. I mean really! I'm not big on pain pills, in my drinking days I would have numbed myself but alas, not any longer. I'm thinking I might try acupuncture next, nothing to lose.

Here's a first for me in Thailand
Went to a orthopneic doctors new clinic nearby, Mrs CM kept harping on about how good blah blah. Nice offices, all modern and new, I may have been his first patient there from the looks of things, I was certainly his only one. The guy was really switched on, really engaged, he got into the details of what was wrong and asked a million questions. Then he wants to see the MRI so I give him the disc to view. He says, a combo. of meds and traction is worth a try, we'll get the meds sorted now and you can come back to tomorrow to start two weeks of transaction. He gave me three kinds of relaxants/pain meds, killer meds if ever there were any, I've been high for the past four hours and completely pain free. Anyway, he hands me the meds and I ask, how much. He says, 250 baht. Wot! for everything? He says yes. I tell him I'm surprised so cheap but sadly I've got no cash with me, only cards, I tell him I'll run down to the ATM. He says, wait for it........no, you can just pay me tomorrow ehn you come for transaction. Mrs CM asks, and he let you out without paying? Never happened before here. Anyway, enjoy your day or whatever it is, I'm going to enjoy my meds. Wheeeee.......
