Did I hear that right. there's fifty homeless farang on Jomtien beach? Go and check out slumsville at Big C Pattya Klang (the old Carrefour) farang bums sleeping on the wooden benches outside. Still suppose it beats a single wide trailer in Tennessese. |

Whether you or I go is a moot point, plenty of people living the dream outside Big C.
Heck wait til you get inside the foodcourt, too effin cheap to buy anything, they go upstairs to Big C and buy bread etc,come back down and buy rice etc.
The observant will quickly notice the Big C plastic bag, covering the bottle of Beer Archa, Beer Chang , Red Horse, or Cheers Extra they use to wash down their peasants breakfast.
Anyway back to my original point, havent yet heard of a hobo being mowed down outside Big C, a la trailer park tennesse.

So I'm confused.
How's it there's so many homeless on the beach like that and they seem to be quite well known.
Why haven't the cops or tourist cops arrested them?

It's a waste of time - the cops know that all they are doing is subjecting them to years in IDC, so choose to turn a blind eye. Just the same way as they turn a blind eye to the charities that help them - which is illegal. It may get to the point that weight of numbers will force the cops to act - until then, same 'ol, same 'ol. |

You seem so keen on people cleaning up the beaches by arresting people who are homeless in thailand to save the eyes of tourists but you have to consider Australia does not do that. Or is it Australia you are talking about. |

If they are arrested here and deported they stay perpetually in the IRC a jail that makes any of the Australian offshore refugee camps look like a 5 star hotel. They stay there till they pay money for the fares and accomodation costs in the IRC. There are people there who have survived 10 years maybe more. As in Australia many that are there are in that situation because they chose not to take medication for their mental illness. A thai if picked up will be sent to a hospital and treated and medicated (quite reasonably too with good care) before they are released to ccontinue their lives Foreigners are not entitled to this so the police and many thais show their understanding by permitting the person to live his life as he can without locking him up for life. |

Decisions decisions, oh lets have a think. I can hang out at the local snooker hall, playing for free, drinking with my buddies and am surrounded by beautiful women. Or, I can be back at the station filling in paperwork, no tea money will be forth coming, smelly stinking farang that speaks even less Thai than my English skills. Its a no brainer, rack them up Lek. |
