I've had lobsters and fish that were turned into sashimi so quickly they hadn't realised they were dead they were still breathing.

Off topic but do think about the advantages of avatars. In this light I thought above was the same poster.

Local food can be challenging for the people from other cultures. In Peru and Ecuador people like to eat guinea pigs. Those little nice creatures, which western kids like to keep in their little cells. This is probably the most stolen photo I have ever shoot. Guinea pig at an restaurant in Ecuador.

I've had BBQ quinea pig. Tastes like chicken. I never tasted it. I did not want to, even if I should have done so. But the question was at the time, why? I also did not try the taste of a dog. Curiosity is one thing, wife saying "If you eat that, there is no more kisses", is another. When in Taipei, taken to a local 'farang' night market, I did drink snake blood and ate snake meat soup. The funny thing was that my local hosts never did it before. Touristic thing to do.

It's a psychological thing. Aussies eat emus and kangaroos, their national emblem. Dog hotpot I've had once in Canton and it was actually really good. I don't have hangups about weird foods.

My mother told me that many years ago, she was travelling back from the bush, and chanced upon a brains market.
Bantu brains, three rand / pound Zulu brains, five rand / pound Afrikaans brains, ten rand / pound English brains, twenty rand / pound
"Is that because English brains are so much tastier?" "Need a lot of English to get a pound of brains"

I've eaten K-9 stew in the Philippines...went back for thirds it was that good. Winter in Hong Kong was snake eating time & I was a regular at a local snake soup vendor. About the only thing I haven't eaten is escargot and I have no intention to ever eat it...there be better stuff "out there" to eat. I have survived Fugu in Japan too. Heck...I'll eat almost anything as long as when I put a knife & fork into it it doesn't let out a yelp & try to scurry, slither or run away.
