I find the homosexual subplot totally unacceptable. Finn and Poe. Why wasn't the man-on-man action more explicit? Are we really expected to use our imagination?

So how do I convince my girls to watch this? (age 9 and 7). I'd really like to see it. Or should I go along as "Billy No Mates" and hope I don't get sat next to...

If you are tall, opt for an aisle seat as they really pack the seats in. Still, for 350 baht you really can't complain!

Saw it yesterday. Excellent movie. Cheers to Smokie and his young lady for the company and getting us those excellent seats, while a friend took the kids to Kidzania.
Well worth it, captures the original concepts very well. Mrs. enjoyed it too. Just trying to guess what comes next now... Don't want to have to wait till 2017 for the next one

I went last night - first class showing at Maya, Chiang Mai. 450 baht - includes access to the lounge waiting area, a welcome orange juice, pepsi and popcorn served to your table as you watch.
Forty seats in the first class cinema, can recline virtually to lying down - great.
Movie? Yes.
I can see why people are raving about it. I'd give it four stars for hitting many spots - and a touch extra for introducing a credible new villain and heroine. I'm not giving it five stars cos a couple of bits were just lazy rip-offs of the originals.
And I'm always mystified as to how brigades of highly trained storm troopers can't hit a barn door from ten feet with ther blasters.

To be honest, I rather liked the references back to the original three movies. It's also nice to know that my failing memory can still remember the original movies of more than 30 years ago, even if I can't remember where I left my glasses several times a day these days.

Apparently JJ Abrams didn't realise that Finn and Poe were bum chums, but plans to include more men light on their loafers in future movies. He recently said: “To me the fun of Star Wars is exploring the possibilities, so it seems insanely narrow-minded to say that there wouldn’t be a homosexual character in that world.”www.ew.com/article/2016/02/26/star-wars-jj-abrams-gay-characters
