I thought this was about soutpeel's famous honey badger Zuma but apparently not President Jacob Zuma is blaming everything from market overreaction to political intrigue in a public relations fightback against criticism that his leadership is undermining South Africa’s economy and denting the popularity of the ruling African National Congress. In interviews this weekend, Zuma cited market “overreaction” when the rand weakened to a then record low and bond yields rose to a seven-year high last month after he fired Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene and replaced him with little-known lawmaker David van Rooyen. The currency hasn’t recovered since he rescinded his decision and appointed Pravin Gordhan to the post. He also called criticism that his friendship with a wealthy Indian family which employs his son reeks of influence peddling “a political thing.” www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-01-11/zuma-begins-fightback-as-south-africa-s-rand-gets-hammered

Zuma is a very dangerous, uneducated ( didnt even finish high school) halfwit, possibly more dangerous than Uncle Bob He is one of the old guard communists/hard liners with a chip on his shoulder Currently qualification for becoming President in SA is only based on 1 criteria, whether one was on Robben Island with Mandala, those surviving in order of " superority" have been promised the job.. Next heir apparant...is Cyril Ramaposa, who IMHO would make a great president, got a lot of respect for him and Rolf Meyer, as it was those 2 who brokered the deal before the first elections, not Mandela / De Klerk They knew if the ANC/NP couldnt find a middle ground...the next train stop was civil war

Trix May the powers that be there continue with the incompentance, and the ZAR keeps tanking, its getting to the point that if you have USD its cheaper to retire in SA than it is in Thailand....its dipped over 37% I understand the crime rate is the same but there it is not just to tourists Knowing both countries very well...there are mutiple aspects which very similar between SA and Thailand Certainly in the tourist areas like Cape Town the authorites do look out for tourists and the major tourist spots are very safe , of course like any city there places you dont go marching around in, in the middle of the night From personal observation, I would suggest the Locals in SA are more inclined to help say a tourist or somebody else in need more so than what you see in Thailand
