usually my dogs love to kill snakes.just yesterday they ripped a golden tree snake apart but today we had a cobra as visitor and both of them stood far away from it and seemed to be "scared".same happened a few month back with a Malayan pit viper they encountered it but didn't attack it.how can dogs know if the snake is venomous or not?the snake yesterday climbed up my palm and have look what happened to my beloved palm Attachment Deleted

I don't think dogs 'know' if a snake is venomous per se. Many dogs are killed by venomous snakes all the time. One theory could be that if the snake has used it's venom recently the dogs can smell the venom.
