I told you this morning ...no tigers, crocodiles or snakes.
No rats or other bitey things in Chiang Mai.
I know what you're like.

I absolutely love snakes but there's not a fricken chance that I would do that. I've been bitten by a fair few none venomous snakes and it's always bloody painful. Snake bite no, Snakebite yes.

^^^^, funny coloured snakebite there Mr Tiger, I always knew them as cider/lager mix.
Remember being told countless times, we dont serve THOSE in here, no problem, give me a pint of lager, a pint of cider and an empty pint glass.
Real end of the month stuff.

It's a variation on the original, a Guinness Snakebite (Guinness & Cider). I remember the Snakebite ban and this just proves that Convergent Evolution is real because I lived far away from you but we also learned the two pints and an empty glass trick. On the same page, when I was posted to Berlin (start of the 70s) we used to go to the disco at Summit House (NAAFI controlled but off base). We were young and the drink was duty free (dirt cheep), so we used to drink pints of Pernod & Coke (probably cost 50p for that). Everything was served in soft plastic glasses but that wasn't enough, after one month of my Battalion being there doubles or more was banned. Next night, 6 Pernod & Cokes and a pint glass please.

I will admit to having to resort to google, too many sessions have taken their toll on the old grey matter.
Black Velvet is the name of the Cider/Guiness mix.

Also known as a 'Black Adder', dependent on how it is mixed.

I used to work in a London Pub in the mid 80's ... smokie knows it only too well, pure coincidence BTW.
The Pouges used to play there.
Never had been asked for a SnakeBite before till that first Gig.
Made several that night, well behaved, if boisterous crowd.
Ah, the Pouges, the Pub, the good 'ole days.

Okay, A Black & Tan is a Pale Ale and a Guinness. The Guinness is poured slowly over the pale ale, so that it looks like this: A Shandy we agree on I believe. Half a glass of beer and half a glass of lemonade mixed. Given to teenagers at family functions or at a 'Family' Sunday Roast at a country pub. Not to be confused with a 'Lager Dash', which is a dash of lemonade (about 1" at the bottom of a pint glass) with the glass filled up with lager. Or a 'Lager Tops', which is basically a Lager Dash but the lager goes in the glass first. Taste of the 2 are exactly the same but which one to order was dependent on what was the in thing at that time (bloody 1980's). One more thing about Lager Tops/Dash, if you ever see a guy in a bar ordering 'half a Larger Tops', punch him cleanly in the larynx, fricken posing Southerners. A snakebite is Cider and Lager. The correct way to serve it is by letting the lager sit on the cider. However, when served in a bar in the UK, the lager is usually on draft, so the lager and cider just mixes and creates a cloudy looking pint. It is a strong drink (much stronger than shandy) and dependent on the cider used (Scrumpy Cider is the best) the strength can vary greatly. Due to its strength and the increase in barroom brawls in the 80s & 90s it was banned from many bars, sometimes a Landlord decision and sometimes a Brewery decision. In fact Bill Clinton was refused a snakebite when he ordered one at the Old Bell Tavern in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. Maybe he should have told them that he wouldn’t inhale drink it. A Black Velvet is also known as 'Guinness Snakebite' and consist of Guinness over Cider. Cream Stouts should only be drank by old Northern Men with flat caps, a wife twice their size (who they are scared of) and a whippet to take everywhere and confide in. They are usually enjoyed served at room temperature with a side order of KVE brand Pork Scratchings and a roll-up, while delighting in the pastime of 'threes and fives'. Wet Dream in Heaven: This drink consists of a liter of Jamesons. <Bunny boiler>, I hope that you are now better versed in the drinking habits of the common garden Englishman.

Try a 'dribbler' some day.
Pint of whatever you want with a cig floating on the top for 30 mins, remove the cig and neck it.
