So after more than 30 years visiting Thailand I know Bangkok like the back of my foot.
Sure I can easily navigate both airports, most of the tourist traps, the soi nois around KSR, Chinatown, Humpalong train station, most of the major bus terminals (although it has been a while since I traveled by bus) and most ferry stops along the Chao Phraya.
But, where the hell is Soi Cowbot, Soy Ladybird, Nana, Suckavit etc? I can vaguely remember Patpong Road circa '85.
Last month I saw a bright pink neon "Nana" sign en-rout between Swampy and DM. I can only assume that this area was...ummm.. Nana?

I went to Nana once...they nearly banned me on here for it.
Be very careful even mentioning the place.
Unless you are having fish n chips at the Bus Stop.
Nudge wink...

Bangkok is much harder now. Once you only had to know. Grace Hotel ThaiSon Geet Malasia Hotel Hotel Pepsi Thermae.
Soi Cowboy for for tourists to get fleeced in.
At that time Nana was a middle class hotel in a quiet soi. I sold them advertising once...loverly owner.

I remember Jim Thompson House from the '80's. Can't remember where it is.
Actually I have been to that park thing recently, about 11 years ago. Lumpini?

Great for picking up proper hisoish chicks and whisking em off to the bar at the new Marriott. Get a high room so the journey back there together isn't too awkward. Many more secrets to be revealed ya know.

For young farang totty fresh off the plane get you dreadlocks curled and grow a goatee.
Then head down to Soi Samsen and buy a few 80 Baht cocktails...you'll be enjoying somtam the next morning with your smiling harem.

Finally. Soi Samsen. An area I can recognise. I have stayed at the Riverview Guesthouse a few times, ages ago.

If you're down that way head to Sheepshank bar on the river...not the easiest to find.
Just head down Soi Rambuttri and at the end turn right...look across the road for the sign and wander thru in the dark.
Well worth it for sundowners.
