I remember sitting at my grandparents house when this awful disaster unfolded, an absolute tragedy as it filtered through, initially on radio and then later that day on TV. it changed a lot about how football stadiums were built and many stadiums had massive reductions in capacity due to it. A horrendous mismanagement, but this article now suggests something more sinister. what is increasingly concerning is, that under Thatchers government, how much more was covered up. Hillsborough is another example, but there seems to be so much more, not just in terms of football. www.theguardian.com/football/2015/apr/15/bradford-fire-stafford-heginbotham-martin-fletcher

I read that earlier today. Shocking stuff. Somebody, somewhere must have thought at some point: "something's fishy here"

Even if somebody had a premises god up in flames for just a second time it'd raise a few eyebrows. But NINE times.... with no investigation?

At a time when kids TV presenters were paedophiles and the country was being run by a complete scum government concerned only with their cronies.
Look at the whole thing in context....the blue rinse brigade and upper class numpties on the loose....the old style house of lords.....it was the worst post war period to date for the working class.
No wonder they stuck together and looked after their well connected pal.

Do we really think that those involved in the sordid criminal activities will be outed?
Some how I think not,in fact I and you know they won't.
There were and are a large number of files concerning that multitude of nefarious activities that were locked away so that only those with the highest level of security clearance could view them. Many files were and are locked down under 50 and 100 year rules.
A number of my old colleagues were involved in the investigation concerning the Lord Lucan disappearance and his presumed murder of Sandra Rivett. Believe you me that case had more twist and turns and dead end roads than a collection of all the mazes in the U.K.
The upper echelons of society and I mean the very top level were when contacted and interviewed totally bland with their comments, very few statements were allowed let alone taken and the web of intrigue and concealment was indeed worthy of the best John Le Carre novel.
The same situation applies concerning the issues in the posts above, although it isn't society so much as a political cover up involving all sides.
Not one party or government has had the balls to stand up and demand a full investigation into these matters when the were in power or in opposition.
Indeed the repercussions if the truth ever came out would destroy many leading figures major and minor who we look up to internationally, nationally and locally, those social and political, figures, those in the financial, entertainment and sporting arena and the business world are indeed experts in the art of survival and deception.
''The virtues of truth and justice are luxuries that governments and societies around the world cannot nor ever will afford,'' sad to say.

Chubby Brown was at Batley Variety the week or so after. Came on stage and said. "I didn't get an invite to the BBQ". You could have heard a pin drop.

Bradford Disaster was truly horrendous. I don't think that comment would have been appreciated anywhere at the time. Some me years back I was on a fire training course, and they had an uncut police video of the disaster, with the timing in the corner, the speed of thatinferno was so so fast. I do hope there will be justice for the families of the bereaved, the survivors and all those that were affected by this. I can't even comprehend how terrifying it must have been

It's also the anniversary of Hillsborough. That should never have happened either. They knew that stand was dangerous. Leeds fans were in there when a similar disaster was averted and the fans spilled onto the pitch. I think it was a semi v Coventry. Not too sure though.
