For all our sell yer two up two down in Donny, and invest in the back of beyond, how much is this, in local $$$$ Considering that photo is of one taken in OZ, I doubt it will look like that when finished, if you build here in Thailand..... If you are a DIY builder, Blue Scope from Australia are in Thailand and you can contact the head office in Australia and have the plans and the KIT to build it produced under their supervision....Then you may get a worthwhile home. Believe me...You wont get whats in the pic....you will nearly get it, but when you ask wheres the floor, or where is the gutters, wheres the concrete around the Posts the Answer will be....oh thats extra. Get my drift... In short MJP is close to the money....but with extras as they call it...it will be half that much again and you will start to rebuild it within a few years. Start saving your pennies...the costs go on and on....and on. Good luck...

Nice queenslander. Should be good here. I think if you get the right people it could be done ok here. They have all the right stuff....a lot more expensive than some places for some and a lot cheaper than Australia for others and they do have some people who do good work I think too many people wanting to build here try to cut corners and save too much money.
Your houswarming party will have to be downstairs as the stairs are too high for me:)

a design idea. Replace one of the staircases with a slippery dip. Then it is a one up one down.

Spending more on foundations, although boring, will pay off in the end considering lifecycle costs of the building. Regarding the finish and landscaping, be imaginative. Necessity is the mother of invention. I did this whole front garden for 10,000 Baht. 17,000 if you include the garden furniture. www.flickr.com/photos/56053365@N07/sets/72157651560462219/

And I'd say around 2 million baht also.

So we can assume two or three million baht, not exactly cost prohibitive.
So why is there a distinct lack of these beautiful houses in Thailand?
Not only beautiful but functional, its like an Ozzy version of an Isaan wooden house.
