CC, congratulations on your promotion. Unlike 'the other' forum, we see ourselves as an equal opportunity employer and we will even stoop as low as putting a German in charge. The very fact that the German in question in this case has a sense of humour on par with the Island Apes and yet still maintains his Germonic efficiency has a lot to do with it.
We hope that you will share your expertize and recipes on the cookery threads, and please note that sometimes you will have to explain the terminology from time to time.

CC, I often have breakfast with visiting overseas customers at their hotel and inevitably have to explain why the hotel has dishes such as rice & curry on their breakfast buffet (a Thaism). Most of my customers find this really weird.
So to the reason for this post, is this done by the chefs to help with their budget, or is it done by the insistence of the hotel to save money?

two reasons...first to give the impression of more variety and second to save cost.as you know western products are still expensive compared to local products... on the other side Asian guests quite like it...may not curry but Pad Kar Paow is always a runner and things like Khao Tom,Khao Pad, Gaeng leang or Suki are actually a must have...

Yeah, we always have an Asian option at my work place for breakfast, though most still want the traditionals of a Western breakfast
I often will have Pad Kra Paow or Khao Pad for breakfast. The latter which I just had because I was lazy and my local resteraunt is a stone throw from my house

, breakfast of champions. Gave up though 2 and a half years ago, so just the coffee these days, or a good cup of tea

Same here, gave up the cigarettes one year ago and I have been gradually replacing the nicotine in my body with caffeine. Wonder if we can help wean Metisdead off the fags.
