Investors reveal portfolio strategies as Brexit vote loomsInvestors are divided on their approaches in the run-up to this month's referendum on the UK's membership of the EU.
Cautious investors are reluctant to make allocations to UK equities, while more experienced allocators have started to capitalise on negative sentiment.
Recent statistics from the Bank of England have revealed investors have pulled some £65bn out of UK sterling-denominated assets over March and April, the biggest two-month outflow since 2009, on the back of concerns over the UK's future in Europe.
Opportunities
However, some fund buyers have been taking advantage of market uncertainty to gradually increase their exposure to UK equity funds.
Rob Burdett (right), co-head of the multi-manager team at BMO Global Asset Management, noted the UK economic slowdown began before the date of the referendum was announced, which prompted him to enter the year with an underweight position.
But his team has now closed this underweight to move "practically neutral" ahead of the referendum on 23 June.
"We knew the vote was coming, but the reality was the UK economy was slowing as well so our underweight was not entirely Brexit-centric," Burdett said. "We have tried to take advantage of funds that have underperformed in the very short term as a result of Brexit fears."

So yet again we see the deceitful scare mongering vis a vis the financial status of the U.K.leaving the E.U is in truth nothing more than a pack of lies. The U.K. economy is weak but it isn't due to Brexit but the gambling banksters playing the markets. Rogues and Charlatans all. The sooner we are away from the rabble the better.

O England, staunch of nerve and strong of sinew, Best when you face the odds and stand at bay; Now show the watching world what stuff is in you! Now your people will make you proud today! The end has come with a swiftness that has outdone the hopes of the most sanguine optimists. On this day 23rd of June 2016 we will see history in the making on a larger scale and with larger possibilities than at any time since the age of Napoleon and Hitler, nay even perhaps since the world began.
Ere the mantling channels mist Dim our decks and spars, And our flag that victory has kissed And Valhalla hung with stars... Crowd and watch our signal fly: Gallant English hearts all will shout, E.U. Good-bye- Good-bye. Loud soon shall sound a paean of thanksgiving From a host of happy freed men and women, Life born anew of joy to see us living. Mother of pity what will the beggars of the E.U. do then?
(Apologies to Mr Punch for the editing of his history of the 1914 -1918 war)

Funnily enough, The Little Sparrow sums it up best.

How am I playing it? The Brixet?
Early counting suggested a 50/50 split vote, but as the candle burnt shorter, it was beginning to appear that maybe, just maybe, Great Britain was indeed actually going to exit the Euro Zone (for want of a better term).
ALL POWER TO THE BRITS ... if I was of your birthright and asked if I would vote to leave, my vote would be a resounding YES. Apologies to the Scots, they wanted to stay inside the EuroZone.
But I never thought it would actually happen!
Counting suggests that there will be a Brexit.
Just in-case, my Superannuation (private pension) went into 'Cash' a few months back.
But I was still trading shares.
As of about 10.30 Thai Time, I've done something that I have never done in probably over 20 years.
I'VE SOLD EVERY SHARE I OWN, ON THE ASX AND ON THE SET.
Have I panicked? NO ... I'm just being 'risk adverse'.
I really believe that the global share markets will not look favourably on GB's brave decision ... assuming that the early counting of an exit is borne out as the final decision.
IMHO GOLD will appreciate, quite strongly.
ME ? I'm in cash (now) until the dust settles ... and that time maybe measured, not in weeks, but months, maybe even in a year.
For me, had the Euro zone started with GB, France, Germany and the Nordic countries, it would have been a solid and mutually beneficial economic arrangement.
But the inclusion of minion (in economic terms) countries has devalued the Euro (a good thing) but also devalued the association.
when the EuroZone was formed, second smartest thing GB did was to retain the pound.
Smartest, and bravest thing GB also did was to leave the Eurozone.
Poor ole' Angela (Merkle) might be feeling a tad nervous about now, given that Germany will not have to finance and guarantee the Eurozone debt and, at the same time resettle thousands of economic migrants and genuine refugees.
Just quietly, France is ducked, ditto Italy, Greece is maxed it's credit card and on life support, Nordic countries are looking OK ... for the moment.
Turkey ... HA HA .. good luck now.
As of 11.30 Thai time ... SET down 2.28%
ASX down 3.7% ... that is tens of BILLIONS of dollars ... I can't remember these sort of figures (ASX) since the GFC (Global Financial Crisis).
Well, I've sold, I'm dust, time to crack a (second) beer of the day and play with the kids.

Mrs Smile just commented that now GBP has fallen against the THB that means house prices are now much cheaper for us there Talk about unintended consequences. Should we hang on though for the promised housing crash the doom and gloom merchants forecast if this happened?

Nah - you better get ahead of the wave of hot money that will pour into the UK market from foreign investors. Everyone loves a bargain.
