As all here probably knew Ozzies are a fast moving lot even when just sitting on their bum "Australia has moved 1.5 metres, so it's updating its location for self-driving cars Strewth! Australia will update its latitude and longitude to make sure self-driving cars, drones and tractors know where they're going. Australia is changing from "down under" to "down under and across a bit". The country is shifting its longitude and latitude to fix a discrepancy with global satellite navigation systems. Government body Geoscience Australia is updating the Geocentric Datum of Australia, the country's national coordinate system, to bring it in line with international data. The reason Australia is slightly out of whack with global systems is that the country moves about 7 centimetres (2.75 inches) per year due to the shifting of tectonic plates." www.cnet.com/news/australia-has-moved-1-5m-so-its-updating-its-location-for-self-driving-cars/

Ok but what self driving cars? I've lived here several years and I can assure you there's none I've seen.

Actually the reason we are doing it is to distance ourselves from the UK and the EU.

^ I have said it before and I will say it again rg - If the Poms had any sense back in the days when they "discovered" Australia they would have left all the crims in England on that damp and cold little island and moved the English population, government, Royal Family and all to The Big Island down under and made a killing out of all that land and natural resources. Would have been far, far away from the Frogs and the rest of the Euro trash. Brexit would never have happened.

I thought that is why Australia did so well, because it did not have to carry the half of the population without red blood in their veins and who did not have the energy to do a decent days work.

Personally I blame that Captain Cook twat, prick never could read a map, he was headed for kiwi land. Capt Bligh wouldnt have stood for any such nonsense.

There's a statue to Captain Bligh at the cruise terminal in Sydney - he's reckoned to have pulled off one of the greatest acts of seamanship in history getting his men back to a safe port ( in Indonesia I think ). From memory, 4,000 miles he traveled.
