Which factors are likely to be the key drivers of the improved outlook for global emerging markets?
Emerging economies are starting to heal after a period of below-trend growth and currency weakness. This, combined with low equity valuations, some improvement in corporate earnings revisions and the possibility of further monetary easing in the developed world, makes me more optimistic about the prospects for emerging equity markets.
While a Brexit fallout remains a risk to global fundamentals, its direct economic impact on emerging economies should be limited, in my view. The main market impact of Brexit appears to be an intensification of the trend toward ever-lower interest rates across the developed world.
