The girlfriend of a former Welsh Guard injured in a motorbike accident in Thailand said she is “devastated and heartbroken” by his condition. Adam Hobbs suffered serious injuries in the motorbike accident in Koh Samui last week, and has girlfriend Samantha Theobald by his side in hospital. A fundraising campaign was set up following the incident that left Adam, from Roath , unable to breathe and with locked-in syndrome, meaning complete paralysis of nearly all voluntary muscles. Adam can now only respond using his eyes. Samantha, 31, is now desperate to get father-of-one Adam, a former Welsh Guard who served in Iraq, back to the UK. She said: “I am devastated and completely heartbroken. I cannot even describe my feelings about it. “We had an amazing time together before the accident. I love his soul. I love everything about him. He’s just the most amazing man I have met in my entire life. I struggle to put it into words.” The couple met on June 30 after they were both travelling alone. Samantha said: “I knew I loved him from day one. It sounds crazy and people will think what they want to think, but I knew it straight away.” www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/im-devastated-heartbroken-girlfriend-former-11752875

Good god! How shallow young people are these days! The woman hasn't known him yet for even two months, yet declares him "the most amazing man I have met in my entire life". I guess she's had a very sheltered upbringing.
As for "I struggle to put it into words" I posit the woman is verbally and intellectually challenged.
The man (I presume) sired the child out of wedlock, which hardly makes him "father of the year". (At least, if he were married and caring for his wife and child, why wasn't he travelling with them?)
His chest is covered in tattoos which are offensive to Buddhists. Hardly the stigmata of "the most amazing man". More like the mark of a culturally unaware, insensitive twat.
Oh, and he didn't have the nous to keep his insurance up to date.
In short, pillock of the first water.
I do, however, wish him a full and speedy recovery. (His "girlfriend" though is, I suspect, beyond hope.)

Call me weird but I see cases like this in a different light to some as on the 30th March last year I woke up in an ICU paralyzed from the waist down and being told I was classed as a paraplegic and only time will tell whether you will ever walk again. I "struggle put it into words" what that feels like. Shared a room with a 19yo fellow who got stomped on by a bull rodeo riding. Quadriplegic, forever. Reading stories like the op brings bad memories and I can feel nothing but sympathy for anyone in that position. Hopefully he will recover, as I did.
