^^^ I suggest the lovely lady visits a True branch; she may be lucky, as we were, to meet a very good assistant, who knows her job. The lovely lady gave us ,yes GAVE us a new modem for the internet as the old one was too slow, arranged for the satellite dish to be re routed, for FREE, only charge for materials, cable. All connections now excellent. Plus she gave us five phone numbers of technicians who could be contacted directly (a little fee, working out of hours) if we had any problems. I was truly impressed. I don't think we can have a satellite dish buhi...I will have to look into this one. Also my lass is notoriously stingy when it comes to paying for these things....she hates spending money which is a good but ultimately frustrating trait! Condos are strange affairs, as noted above, some dont allow dishes. Some are wired up for cable, but who knows what companies. We have cable in the house and have as yet suffered no buffering or black outs during heavy rain. There is a True shop on Pattanakarn 34, thats where our set up came from.

At the risk of sounding ostentatious... ...her indoors has True on the full deal at the house...but this internet deal at the condo. I'm suspicious of her assertions regarding the quality of the stream at the condo and would prefer a rock solid connection. Let's say money is no object here...well its football so thats true...what is the best option?? True came and installed 3 boxes yesterday with Platinum package. We have cable not a dish as the condo doesn't allow dishes. I'm very happy with it. (For now at least). We've had a few problems with True in the past, but this time round seemed much more efficient and better quality. It seems like the CTH and Grammy interludes have kick started them into realising they actually have to compete (for now at least) and win back customers. With hindsight True didn't used to seem great, but GMMY was terrible, and CTH apart from being cheap and having EPL was at best functional, and at worst poor service if you need anything. The True equipment / boxes look better than they were a couple of year back with more features. The Mrs. says it can record too, but haven't looked into that yet. I know Sky in the UK can. They seem much better than the cheap and nasty CTH/ Grammy boxes, with better functionality. Channels change at a much quicker speed - not like CTH. So we now have quality TV in 3 rooms with EPL. I think if I can be bothered looking around there might be better deals / packages. Just don't really have time to mess about at the moment and can't be bothered either. As you say if money isn't the issue this seems best around to me. I have my doubts about robustness on the internet. I've seen how the internet cuts out sometimes around Thailand. They charged 700 baht apparently for 2 new splitters, so we could use 3 boxes. Not sure that was legit to be honest as they wouldn't issue a recepit my wife said. Then again we know this is Thailand and people often look to cheat you when they can and make some extra baht on these things, so I just write this off as an extra Thai cost. Small in the scheme of things. Overall very happy so far. Probably not the most cost effective solution. But my time is worth more and I enjoy it THB 2,600-ish a month is also cheaper than what I'd pay in UK for Sky. Just waiting to see what happens when it rains now ... and looking forward to tomorrow

Does each box have its own card fitted?

Hehe... yes we've had the problem in the past. One of the first things Mrs.Smile said when I came home was that we have 3 boxes and you can watch something different on each one Yes all have their own cards.

Good man, no point in teaching you how to suck eggs, you are one step beyond, . Been there done that, checked them all before payment was made, old Sommie was heard muttering, arai wa, mai hen wa, mai roo ben arai. Back to the router cables for you Somchai.

BTW IS there still a football round up on Saturday mornings, around 10am? I found it this morning. BeIn2 Has the Premier League preview for the week. I tuned in at 11.35 and it was on until 12.00, so I'm guessing maybe it starts at 11am as it used to be an hour long.

I ended up buying a digibox, because for the cost of it 12k a year it is far better value than Turdvision
Have all of the football, plus loads of international channels, I really think it was probably a better option even though it runs through wi-fi I have very litle problems with buffering and blackouts

The EPL preview I was looking for keeps moving around as to time. Seems to be on at 9.30 and 12.30 this week each for only half an hour.

Let's say money is no object here...well its football so thats true...what is the best option?? Was in Crossbar last Saturday when it started raining very heavily. True on the True boxes/ cable/ full deal cut out. But True via the internet was still going. The quality on the full deal is better if you look at it alongside the internet one. But the internet one seems more resilient when the weather cuts in So very good quality but cuts out vs OK/good quality that lasts while your internet does.

I decided to downgrade our True package as the EPL has just finished and from 1 June they're putting up the prices 7%. Not to mention they lost the movie channels HBO and Cinemax plus there's loads we never watch.
It was useful to have the Platinum package for a few months on discount just to see.
But we've downgraded:
- from Platinum with 3 boxes for THB 2,592 (before the increases)
- to Smart Family with 1 box for THB 490 + Super Soccer Package THB 299, so just under THB 800
Think this is similar to the packages Buhi pointed out - Cheers buhi. I was watching for them, but think they may only be available just after the EPL season ends, not in the middle.
