A much maligned network of young people wandering the world and getting laid - causing mucho jealousy among older people who wish they could have done that when they were young?

The trouble is most are risking the house (they never bought) and a career (they should have) to build a pension pot (they need). It's okay for a gap year after college, but not a lifestyle I'd recommend keeping up. Tough for the younguns' these days. I don't envy them.

It was tougher for us....we didn't have the net or even Lonely Planet guides....just word of mouth and a few hundred quid. My first time in Goa that lasted me six months though....so maybe it is tougher now .....

I think it's tougher for graduates in developed or any country now than it was years ago. I left university right in the middle of the last big recession in the 90's, but grew a career off the back of the subsequent boom. Regardless of the economy, for skilled and experienced people in their late thirties/forties, finding well paid work is pretty easy. If you're just starting out it's a nightmare.
No idea how the kids do it these days with insecure jobs, bonkers house prices and sky high rents, tax . . .
So I can kind of understand why they go off and try and find themselves.
Or am I talking bollox? Unsure.

I reckon it's is even easier today...I graduated and the binning of the 90's and granny rewarded me with 8 k German marks....they haven't seen me for the next 9 month because I went on my first Asia tour...should have had let them know Now we could still be in contact via Skype or other things

But is real life easier for the younger generations? One helluva mountain to climb these days.

I think every generation says the same but the competition gets harder and there are more choices of distraction but due of globalisation the choice of workplaces became almost infinite...
